Guitar-driven rock was alive and well at the historic El Rey Theatre in West Los Angeles on an otherwise sleepy Tuesday night, March 15th. The English glam rock band The Darkness brought their long-delayed tour to the West Coast, much to the delight of a packed theater full of fully vaccinated super fans.

Ween played the Chicago Rivera Theatre 3/19 & 3/20 2022. Watching the previous shows' setlists come out, I had an idea of what songs we would hear on this Spring Tour. I scrambled to jot down a few tunes I thought for sure would show up in Chicago. My predictions included “Dancing in the Show,” “You Fucked Up” or “Blarney Stone,” “She’s Your Baby” or maybe “Tender Situation,” “Tear for Eddie” - one of those sappy songs, “Don’t Get 2 Close 2 my Fantasy” and sure, “Touch my Tooter” again.

Sometimes, the most unexpected music moments are the ones you'll remember best. This will definitely be the case of my last Friday. Starting off the day, I had no idea I would be at the Fox Theatre in Boulder that night...witnessing the mesmerizing force of nature that is Sierra Ferrell and her band. Full disclosure, I didn't know who Sierra Ferrell was. However, as moments like these tend to happen, that day would have been my deceased father's 76th birthday.

Last Friday night, Twiddle closed out a fiery one-two punch at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY, building off of the prior night’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities, as well as the birthday celebration of keyboardist Ryan Dempsey. The Vermont based quartet delivered inspiring jams for their dedicated fans who arrived hours before the show began. The show included two notable sit ins, as well as accolades from the Brooklyn Bowl’s famous owner, Peter Shapiro.

Connecticut jam quartet Eggy channeled the luck of the Irish last Thursday night at the famed Mercury Lounge in New York, NY. The Woodbridge, CT based squad crushed their rescheduled post Phish YEMSG December after show on March 17th. This is the first time they have played in New York City since prior to the pandemic, opening for Spafford at the Brooklyn Bowl on February 6, 2020, and will certainly not be the last.

It took all of 30 seconds into their show at Boston’s The Sinclair on Wednesday night to see that the members of psychedelic instrumentalist band Circles Around The Sun are incredibly excited for this spring tour. Right off the starting line of the show opening “Saturday’s Children,” Adam MacDougall was flailing jubilantly over his multiple keyboards, dishing out a spectrum of eerie and intriguing wails between synthesizer and piano.

Billy Strings and his 3 band mates, Billy Failing, Royal Massat, and Jarrod Walker, wrapped up an energetic 2-night run at Cincinnati’s Andrew J Brady ICON Music Center on Saturday, March 12.

Three songs into Trey Anastasio’s new solo acoustic album, Mercy, I was in the middle of writing in my notes, “this could be the song or montage moment for a character in a Disney movie, probably with animal interaction, or magic,” and without missing a beat, right into my earhole, Trey sings, “let it go,” four times.

Raising the bar with incredible jams and set list delights has become a pastime for the rising jam band Goose. Last Saturday night was no exception, as they closed out their winter tour and two night stand in Philadelphia, Pa with an absolute bang. The jam packed Fillmore Philly alone was a testament to their unprecedented growth, as fans were clustered tightly in the back bars without any view of the stage.

Goose, the self described indie jam band, descended into Philadelphia, PA and delivered a smoking hot first night of a two night stand at the Fillmore Philly. Last night’s show was their first ever performance in the City of Brotherly Love, and for an extremely packed, sold out crowd. Goose’s epic rise in popularity continued last night, as many in the crowd were at their first ever show.
