Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival

After a lot of careful thought, research and discussion, Johnny, William and the Rooster Walk board of directors have made the very difficult decision to postpone RW12 until Memorial Day weekend of next year (May 27-30, 2021). We are heartbroken that we won’t get to see you at Pop’s Farm this spring, but ultimately the health and safety of all involved with the festival is our top priority.

Organizers of the 12th annual Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival released their “early bird band lineup” today, with The Infamous Stringdusters at the top of the initial band list.

The Grammy-winning progressive bluegrass band will be making its third appearance at Rooster Walk, and will be joined on the bill by Melvin Seals & JGB, Fruition, BIG Something, Yarn, The Vegabonds, Big Daddy Love and Sexbruise?.

Sam Bush Band, Steep Canyon Rangers, Sierra Hull and Ghost Light are among the final list of bands announced for the 11th annual Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival. Other new additions include:  The Steel Wheels, The Black Lillies, ‘Yarn Morrison’ (Yarn’s tribute to Van Morrison), Runaway Gin, The Trongone Band, Sanctum Sully, Disco Risqué, Kate Rhudy, Adar, The Folly, Chamomile & Whiskey, Prosperity’s Folly, The Drove, and MHC Praise Band.

Organizers of the 11th annual Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival released their “sneak preview” music lineup today, with Shovels & Rope at the top of the early band list.

The Charleston, S.C., roots/rock duo were joined on the bill by progressive bluegrass acts Billy Strings and Mountain Heart, festival mainstays Yarn, Charlottesville jam/rock band Kendall Street Company and rising rock act C2 & The Brothers Reed.

Marcus King and Billy Strings, two of the hottest names on today’s music scene, will join forces for a world-debut “King & Strings” set on May 25th at Rooster Walk, the festival announced today.

King will join Strings and his band for the duration of a late-night, 2-hour set at RW10, and iconic drummer Jeff Sipe will also sit in for the latter portion of the performance.

Roots-folk-rock trio The Wood Brothers and renowned pedal-steel act Robert Randolph & The Family Band were added to the bill of the tenth annual Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival, set for May 24-27, 2018 just outside of Martinsville, Va.

After taking the scenic route in the old CJ-7 through the Blue Ridge Parkway, driving through yet another torrential downpour from the Purple Rain, and a glorious lightning storm the likes of which we have yet to see this year, we arrived at Pop’s Farm. Rooster Walk 8 had just begun. We arrive slightly damp yet super amped to be back with the Farm in the woods, jamming to the bluegrass vibrations in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Rooster Walk will be the place to be this holiday weekend! Pop’s Farm, a sprawling 151-acre venue in the picturesque foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, will be alive with the sound of music and her people. Often described as “more than a festival”, Roosterwalk began as a celebration to commemorate the lives of Edwin "the Rooster" Penn and Walker Shank, two Virginians native to the area, who were taken from us too early. The event organizers have contributed more than $80,000 to date to charities involved in .
