On Tour

Umphrey's McGee Terrorizes the Fillmore!

This Halloween the Chicago-based sextet Umphrey's McGee brought their progressive jam-rock to the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, and in turn paid homage to some of the greatest horror movies of all time.  Not only did they feed the

Photos from the Drew Emmitt & Billy Nershi Halloween Show

Drew Emmitt (Leftover Salmon) & Billy Nershi (String Cheese Incident) teamed up last night to play a show at the Boulder Theater.  Grateful Web was on-hand to snap some photos.  There will be some changes to the pictures, as unfortunately I uploaded them last night without changing all vertical pictures to be right side up, so my apologies... But there are some great band photos as well as fun pictures of folks in their Halloween costumes.

Raucous Crowd Helps Yonder Start Tour Off Right

Wednesdays in a college town are usually nothing to get excited over. Crowds are sparse, bars are mellow and you never have to wait too long for a drink. Townies have to work in the morning. Students have books to read and studying to do so that most of the work can be out of the way when the unofficial start of the weekend, Thursday night, rolls around.

Turn It Out with DJ Goodfoot

In a world awash with wannabe DJ's, it is good to know that some still have the desire to do what it takes and make their case for success.  One such artist is Colorado's own DJ Goodfoot (aka David Lochhead).

Searching for a Real Outlaw Part II

Some features take hours to write, others weeks, sometimes a month. The timing from interview or event to writing and then to publishing is dependent on so many variables that to describe them would be a feature unto itself. Usually, I have a pretty good turn around. Until, that was, I talked with Mike Seeger, went to a string festival and ended up almost going native in the hills of Eastern Kentucky.

The String Cheese Incident Bows Out in Fine Form

As the saying goes, breaking up is hard to do.  However the end of the first chapter of the String Cheese Incident might have been the most amicable amongst any artists in recent musical history.  The members of the band have decided to part ways indefinitely in order to pursue other artistic interests and frankly back away from the mac

Last Ride Bluesfest @ The Seven Clans Casino | 2007

For several years, the Seven Clans Casino and Hotel outside of Thief River Falls has sponsored an outdoor bluesfest. It began with one short evening of music and has morphed into two days of blues goodness, usually for no cost.

RAQ Rockin' the Boat in NYC | 7/27/07

On July 27th, RAQ set sail for a unique set on the Rocks Off Boat Cruise around the Statue of Liberty. It was their first show back on tour after their own festival the weekend before called the Lew Au II, which took place in their home state of Vermont. As the boat boarded, the fans realized how exciting this was going to be and the cheering and anticipation was imminent. The tiny intimate boat set sail at around 10pm, and the band came on shortly after.

Leftover Salmon & moe. Team Up at Red Rocks

Last weekend Colorado's own Red Rocks Amphitheater hosted the dynamic duo of jamgrass pioneers Leftover Salmon and New York rockers moe.  What was supposed to be a night of ugly weather turned out to be clear and pleasant, back dropped by a magnificent full moon.

Umphrey's McGee with Tea Leaf Green | 6/1/2007 | Review

The buzz from the excited crowd anticipating two of the jam band's scene's most up and coming bands was fresh and impulsive. These are bands that have mostly broken through by their tediousness in touring and their successful musical appearances at major festivals such as Bonnaroo and Wakarusa.
