Today, noted bluegrass group Town Mountain unveils “Down Low” featuring Tyler Childers, the third single from their forthcoming record. Late last year, banjo player Jesse Langlais and Childers teamed up to write what would become the closing cut for their forthcoming record, New Freedom Blues . "To me 'Down Low' has a Waylon vibe, which is a damn good vibe to have," Langlais says.

MerleFest, presented by Window World, is pleased to announce the return of the beloved Midnight Jam and the start of the Barn Dance. Following tradition, the well-known, fan favorite Midnight Jam will take place on Saturday night, prefaced by the Barn Dance. The legendary music festival is an annual homecoming of musicians and music fans; this year’s festival is scheduled for April 26-29 in Wilkesboro, North Carolina at Wilkes Community College.

The wind is whipping down Asheville’s south slope, and the temperature is somewhere in the low teens as the crowd begins to arrive at The Orange Peel for the seventh annual Holiday Hang. Put on by Town Mountain and Amanda Anne Platt & the Honeycutters, the event is a benefit for the local Manna Food Bank and has become quite a tradition in this town.

Town Mountain and Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters, two stellar bands from Asheville, North Carolina, are teaming up for the Asheville Holiday Hang as a run of shows in the Southeast, sponsored by New Belgium Brewing Company. Ashvegas’ Caleb Calhoun calls them, “a match made in heaven.”

Town Mountain is thrilled to join in on Yep Roc Records’ Sing Out!, a night of songs and solidarity in support of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of North Carolina at The Cat’s Cradle on Saturday, March 11th. Tift Merritt, Caleb Caudle, and Alexandra Sauser-Monnig from Mountain Man will also be performing! Doors are at 7pm with the show starting at 7:30. Tickets are $15 and 100% of ticket sales will be going to the ACLU of North Carolina.

Town Mountain is teaming up with The Honeycutters, another stellar band from Asheville, for the Asheville Holiday Hang as a run of shows in the Southeast. The Asheville Holiday Hang originated as a holiday benefit in Asheville, NC and is heading into its 5th year. This year’s benefit event takes place at The Grey Eagle in Asheville on Friday, December 16th and proceeds go to MANNA FoodBank.

Raw and soulful, with plenty of swagger, Town Mountain, is on tour with their 5th studio album, Southern Crescent, which released to much acclaim on April 1, 2016 on LoHi Records. The band debuted on the Grand Ole Opry stage in June. Just two weeks later they made their debut appearance at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, as part of a three day run of shows supporting Greensky Bluegrass.

Raw, soulful, and with plenty of swagger, Town Mountain, based in Asheville, NC, releases their 5th studio album Southern Crescent on April 1, 2016 through LoHi Records. Produced and engineered by GRAMMY winner Dirk Powell, the album was recorded in Powell’s studio The Cypress House in Breaux Bridge, LA. It was mixed by Mixed by Scott Vestal at Digital Underground in Greenbrier, TN.

In much the same way that iconic southern dishes such as Louisiana gumbo or Brunswick stew can include any number of flavorful ingredients, so too does bluegrass music rely on a recipe that can vary wildly, depending on who's doing the cooking. For Asheville, North Carolina-based bluegrass band Town Mountain, the key ingredient of the musical stew that is their career-defining fifth album, Southern Crescent, is the same confident – yet entirely embraceable – swagger that has distinguished the group since they first formed in 2005.
