Trey Anastasio

Jam band juggernauts Phish are in the midst of the West Coast leg of their extensive Summer 2018 tour. Fans have been wowed by the sheer diversity of setlists, unexpected arrangements, and intriguing chemistry. After the triumphant Bakers Dozen run at Madison Square Garden last summer, the quartet demonstrated their desire to explore far-off realms and keep their repertoire both expansive and tight.

It was great to learn that The Trey Anastasio Trio, as listed on the schedule, was actually playing as a quartet, given that Ray Paczkowski had just returned to his keyboard the night before, after recovering from a health issue. That may have been Trey’s first real interaction with the crowd, there before the encore, where he played two solo songs with his acoustic, including a lovely “Waste,” before bringing his bandmates back for a third together. I did love how he phrased it, the news about Ray being better, genuinely thrilled to share “some good news in what seems like a world of bad news.”

Join us live from the Civic Theatre in New Orleans April 26, 27, and 28 for three nights of the Trey Anastasio Trio. Each show is available in both standard and full 1080p high definition formats, individually or as a discounted three night pass.

There may be no band that has been more critically analyzed song by song and show by show than Phish. Phish phans are some of the most attuned and astute musical analysts in the music scene. Since my first show in December of 1996 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia to my 197th show at the closing of this summer tour at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, I have seen and heard such vastly differing opinions about nearly every show.

Trey Anastasio Band closed out Grace Potter’s Grand Point North festival in Burlington, Vermont last night. In years past, Potter has headlined both Saturday and Sunday night at the Festival. This year, Potter headlined Saturday night while turning over that spot to Trey Anastasio Band (TAB) on Sunday. (Grace performed a full set immediately before Trey.) This was the first show for TAB in Burlington since in October, 2011. Potter has performed on several bills with Anastasio over the years.

Ah, the sweet sounds of Spring - While some of us spend our nights and weekends preparing for various road trips, the occasional luxurious vacation or the stereotypical retreat to Aunt Marge’s wedding recital in Northern Iowa, many Midwestern’s and music fans alike look directly towards Memorial Day weekend which can only mean one thing, Summer Camp Music Festival 2017.
