Under the Willow
Under the Willow’s summer will feature a return to Tampa, the band’s winter home, and their first trek into New England. The slate of shows starts this week as the string quintet performs with Kitchen Dwellers at Subterranean in Chicago on Wednesday and supports Jason Isbell and Cornmeal at Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora, IL on Saturday.
Tin Man, our trailer and home, has broken down and we find ourselves on the side of the road in Tupelo, MS. We're turning to you, our fans, friends and family, to help us get back on the road.
Please take a moment to check out our Go Fund Me campaign. We went with Go Fund Me because they'll allow us to get your contributions right away so we can get moving again. If you can't make a contribution, please share this with your friends and families.
People are rejoicing here on Mulberry Mountain this year. After 3 years of poor weather during Harvest Music Festival, it's finally a perfect weekend. Sunny, cool and breezy...I guess climate change is working in our favor right now. Folks are rolling in and setting up camp, but the crowd seems smaller this year, but it's only the second day - and a Friday, to boot.
At the SHEL/ Under the Willow show at the Abbey Chicago on September 24th, the crowd bubbled over as Erin Donovan spoke of her Irish ancestors and really anyone’s ancestors. She was describing one of the first songs the band wrote together as the crowd nearly overpowered her amplification. The song is called Heritage and the music is undeniably spiritual.
Ever since the Harvest Music Festival lineup has been released, I’ve been pouring through the music of slated artists to find my favorites. A lot of the musicians I wasn’t too familiar with, including Under the Willow. From the first song I heard, I knew this was a band I could easily love.
