Sometimes Rhythm and Blues, Motown, or Funk will all get associated with soul music, but usually isn’t a defining element of a specific sound or mode of playing. It is what it describes: coming from the soul. So when you take an artist like Victor Wooten, soul would not be the first “buzz word” that comes to mind. Victor has been touring with his own band since 1997 in various forms and formats all over the globe.

What can’t Bela Fleck do? Or maybe the question is what can’t Bela Fleck do with a banjo? Aside from his history with the Flecktones, bridging and bending the idea of genre and fusion music he produced his first film, “Throw Down Your Heart”, a journey into the true origins of the banjo in Africa. The film also drew awareness to culture and struggles abroad, something rarely achieved through a concert film.

The first round of artists performing at the Summer Camp Music Festival arrived today. The 12th annual Summer Camp Music Festival will take place May 25 -27, 2012 at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois.

moe. and Umphrey's McGee will once again be headlining Summer Camp, anchoring the festival with three nights a piece, as the event  features over 100 bands at 7 stages over the course of four days.

It was a clash of the bass guitar titans Saturday night at the Boulder Theater. A double bill of the Victor Wooten Band and the Stanley Clarke Band was a jazz extravaganza showcasing two generations of innovative bass masters together under one roof.
