Pickathon announces the full lineup of bands for the 2024 Festival, coming August 1-4 to Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley, Oregon (12 miles outside of Portland, OR). The festival brings a renewed focus on major headliners, starting with Australian indie rock icon Courtney Barnett. Pickathon has headlining slots with folk group Elephant Revival, soul revivalist Durand Jones, country rock mainstay Bonnie "Prince" Billy, and "Australia's greatest boy band," Vacations.

“I’ve always found the combination of country and rock interesting, looking at people like Gram Parsons, Stephen Stills, and Neil Young,” says Texas-based, Choctaw-Apache songwriter and recording artist Vincent Neil Emerson about the inspiration behind his new album, The Golden Crystal Kingdom—out now via La Honda Records/RCA Records.

“I lived in my Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera for a while,” says Texas-based songwriter and recording artist Vincent Neil Emerson, recollecting how his new tune, “Time of the Rambler,” came to be. As the opening track from Emerson’s upcoming, Shooter Jennings-produced LP, The Golden Crystal Kingdom, “Time of the Rambler” finds the Choctaw-Apache musician watching the world fly by around him, trying to find some traction for his dream.

Ask any touring musician about their stand-out performances over the years and they’ll be quick to remember when and where they took place. But the flip side of that coin is always present in those memories as well.

Lauded by Rodney Crowell to be a songwriter akin to John Prine and Townes Van Zandt, Vincent Neil Emerson is no stranger to work ethic. His life’s journey has been tumultuous, hard-nosed, and the stuff of songs. It all brings the young Choctaw-Apache man’s journey to the announcement of his new Shooter Jennings-produced record, The Golden Crystal Kingdom—out on November 10 via Emerson’s longtime label home La Honda Records and new partner, RCA Records.

A once-a-year gathering of musical hippies and cowboys in Monterey, California, Rebels & Renegades will once again take place at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, this year bringing music to festivalgoers over three days; October 6-8, 2023.

Go back to December 31, 2008 when guitarist Derek Trucks and his wife, singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi, were preparing to ring in the New Year. Married since 1999, these two soulmates, equally steeped in the musical roots of blues, jazz, and gospel, had finally decided the time was right to set aside their successful solo careers and commit to a new band melding their vision and talent. It wasn’t the first time they had collaborated; they had shared a stage countless times and traded album guest appearances, all while starting a family together.

After two grueling years since Zilker park was last closed for the festival, Austin City Limits returned spectacularly for not one, not three, but two incredible weekends to make up for the lost time. Fans flocked from all over the world to see artists from across all genres, young and old, and celebrate not only the return of live music, but the return of our sanity as hundreds of thousands came through the gates to blow off a little steam and resume business as usual.
