The countdown has begun for this summer’s most exciting and anticipated festival, Wakarusa 2013. Wakarusa will again take place at its annual location at Mulberry Mountain in the Ozark National Forest, May 30-June 2.

After a yearlong hiatus, Widespread Panic has announced dates for their much-anticipated 2013 Spring Tour. The tour marks the first time the legendary sextet will tour featuring their full electric set up since 2011. To help celebrate the long-awaited return to the road, Widespread Panic will include intimate, fan favorite venues during select stops this spring.The tour begins with two nights at the Peabody Opera House in St.

The Victor Wooten Band put on a show featuring four bassists, all switching up on multiple instruments at various times during their set, along with a vocalist with a truly, truly unforgettable voice plus two extremely talented drummers.  Their set was as unique as it was enjoyable. If rhythm sections float your boat, you better be prepared for a musical tsunami with this bunch.

I despise the term “jamband” – wait - let me take that back – I dislike the word “jamband” when trying to describe a genre of music.  This hasn’t always been the case.  In the early 90’s, I was into Phish, the Grateful Dead and Widespread Panic, and these bands, while vastly different, did kind of fit into the jamband genre, with psychedelic extended guitar throw-downs, driving drumbeats and improvational aspects not fo
