One of the most daring and influential artists of our time, Yoko Ono, celebrated her eightieth birthday with a sold-out performance to an energetic and hugely responsive crowd at the legendary Volksbühne in Berlin.

In 2010, Yoko Ono performed several shows with the Plastic Ono Band and special guests. At the Orpheum in Los Angeles, Iggy Pop, Mike Watt, Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Perry Farrell, RZA, Lady Gaga, Carrie Fisher and Joseph Gordon-Levitt paid tribute to Yoko, performing songs from throughout her career.Yoko also invited a young group she had recently fallen in love with: tUnE-yArDs, whose breakthrough album, Whokill, was still a year away.

One of the most daring and influential artists of our time, Yoko Ono, will be celebrating her eightieth birthday with a music performance at the legendary Volksbühne in Berlin on Sunday, February 17. YOKO ONO PLASTIC ONO BAND will be led by her son, Sean Ono Lennon, who collaborated with Yoko on her 2009 critically-acclaimed record, Between My Head And The Sky.

Grateful Web recently had the opportunity to speak to Yoko Ono, legendary philanthropist, artist, author, peace activist and wife to Rock-n-roll icon John Lennon.  Yoko told us a little about her new release, OnoMIX, the ongoing appeal of electronic music, and just ‘making good music.’

From her pioneering work in the Fluxus movement of the 1960s to the recent Imagine Peace Tower in Iceland, Ono's art has challenged and informed, melding the personal to the universal in simple and unique ways. Her marriage and creative collaboration with John Lennon was a love story played out on the global stage.
