David Starfire’s new album, Ascend, is his most “live” project to date.  Starfire’s previous efforts for Six Degrees Records – the five-track EP Bombay Beatz and debut full-length Bollyhood Bass – were predominantly his own doing.  Ascend is more of a collaborative effort, bringing in more live musicians instead of relying on loops and samples.  Ascend takes Starfire’s trademark fusion of Electronica mixed with Indian and Arabic influences to new levels of excitement. This time however, David is working with a dizzying cast of musical characters, including hip hop pioneer, Afrika Bambaataa, label-mates Cheb i Sabbah & Natacha Atlas, Desert Dwellers and vocalists iCatching and Sheila Govindarajan.  Starfire’s live aesthetic, merging with beat-driven dance textures is perfectly at home at the varied venues he’s performed at, including Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle and BurningMan.David Starfire Upcoming Shows2/23 @ Club Vertigo | San Josecito, Costa Rica 2/27 @ Envision Festival | Costa Rica 3/16 @ Comfort Zone | Toronto, ON  * w/ Desert Dewllers3/30 @ Afterlife Nightclub | New Haven, CT  * w/ Govinda 4/6 @ V Elements Festival | San Diego, CA4/19 @ The Endeavor Arts Gallery | Calgary, Alberta  *w/ Govinda 4/20 @ The Red Room Ultra Bar | Vancouver, British Columbia  *w/ Govinda 4/25 @ King King | Los Angeles, CA  * w/ Govinda**ALL TOUR DATES at davidstarfire.com

Eliot Lipp will be joining STS9 on a 4 - show run this month which includes stops in Syracuse, Portland, New York and Richmond. After more than eight years of global touring, seven solo albums, countless collaborations, label-head tastemaking and vital artist-incubator in the USA's most critical beat-making cities (SF, Chicago, NYC), Eliot Lipp's status as an electronic music pioneer is known to scene connoisseurs and weekend warriors alike. Lipp's omnivorous tastes are apparent, from the obvious funk and myriad manifestations of hip-hop though less explicit reference points as jazz fusion, folk and techno.  His well-earned reputation as a producer's producer stems, in part, from his craftsmanship. Never content with well-worn breaks and effects, his work incorporates a fetishistic love of analogue gear with sampledelic flourishes, intricate rhythmic patterns and more than a few leftfield surprises. But his melodic instincts and tunefulness are what have earned him such wide appeal, his songwriterly connection to music's storytelling possibilities, even without words.--Upcoming Dates:Apr 18 @ Landmark Theater | Syracuse, NY *W/ STS9Apr 19 @ The State Theater | Portland, ME *W/ STS9Apr 20 @ Roseland Ballroom | New York, NY *W/ STS9Apr 21 @ The National | Richmond, VA *W/ STS9Apr 26 @ Paparazzi | Baltimore, MDMay 2 @ 1904 Music Hall | Jacksonville, FLMay 3 @ Crowbar | Tampa, FLMay 4 @ Bardot | Miami, FLMay 9 @ Southland Ballroom | Raleigh, NCMay 10 @ Terminal West at King Plow Arts Center | Atlanta, GA **W/ Wick-It The InstigatorMay 11 @ The Orange Peel | Asheville, NC **W/ Wick-It The Instigator

America Religious is a 12-track collection of stories and poetry set against a gritty landscape of Roots-inspired Rock, Americana, Folk, Gospel, and Rhythm & Blues. Caroline Rose and partner Jer Coons cover all elements from production and recording to mixing and engineering, as well as playing nearly all the instruments themselves (lap steel, cello, organ, mandolin, and drums to name a few). The duo arranged and recorded America Religious at Coons’ Park Hill Studio in Burlington, Vermont.Rose’s songwriting stands on its own in the ground covered by the likes of Townes Van Zandt, Joni Mitchell, and John Prine. America Religious covers an array of topics ranging from current political issues to honest, sometimes heartbreaking self-realizations. The songs of America Religious reflect years of travel, happenstance meetings with strangers, and conversations with old friends and distant relatives. More than simply words set to music, they evoke feelings of familiar stories and long-forgotten memories. GET CAROLINE'S MUSIC APRIL 23:  America Religious (Single)JUNE 11: America Religious (Full Album)UPCOMING PERFORMANCES 4/23 @  Rockwood Music Hall | NYC | New York, NY - SINGLE RELEASE SHOW4/24 @ Merchant's Hall |  Rutland, VT ( w/ Laura Cortese) - SINGLE RELEASE SHOW4/26 @ Wellesley College | Wellesley, MA5/9 @ Lizard Lounge | Cambridge, MA (w/ Mia Dyson)5/10 @ House Concert | Cambridge, MA 5/11 @ House Concert | Brookline, MA5/12 @ Signal Kitchen | Burlington, VT (w/ Mia Dyson)5/24 @ Deerfield Academy | Deerfield, MA ( Jer Coons Solo Show)5/25 @ House Concert | Syracuse, NY

Gaudi, as his tour schedule will attest to, is a man in demand. The last few years have seen him increasingly prove his credentials as a respected producer and live artist who can ensure a maximum capacity crowd. In the last year alone he has performed at over 60 venues and festivals across 10 different countries and to surprisingly diverse audiences- from roots reggae aficionados at "One Love", the UK’s no.1 reggae festival to a once in a lifetime performance at the Pyramids in Egypt. His newest work, 'In between times' (out everywhere May 14)  is a great listen from start to finish. It is a strong collection of 12 engaging tracks with a satisfying balance between vocal tracks and instrumentals that are brought artfully together to form a sonic journey greater than the sum of its parts. The new album features a noteworthy collection of artists, many of them pioneers in their respective musical genres and all of them highly respected in their own right. Opening track “Put Your Guns Down” features vocals by Black Uhuru frontman Michael Rose. “Life”, features rising reggae star Jahmai and the atmospheric and ethereal electro-dub adventures of “Tamino and the Temple of Dub”, feature one of the godfathers of psychedelic trance music Raja Ram (from electronic duo Shpongle) on flute. One of the album's stand-out tracks, “I start to Pray” is a truly distinguished collaboration between legendary dub producer and vocalist Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and UK electronic pioneers The Orb, with the inimitable Dennis ‘Dubmaster’ Bovell adding his characteristically uncompromising bass to the mix - it’s a high risk strategy to put so many virtuoso artists in one song but one that pays off handsomely in the realization of this deep, elegant and very dubby track!Other collaborators on the new record include, Hedflux (one of the UK’s hottest breaks producers), Dub Maestro Twilight Circus, Moroccan artist Tahar (from the band Momo) & Gaudi’s on-stage partner in rhyme, vocalist and prodigiously talented beatboxer, Danny Ladwa.'In between times' more than justifies Gaudi’s reputation as a musical frontiersman and “fearless music producer” (Billboard magazine) in its complete disregard for musical boundaries and stylistic separation... It is Gaudi style - the fusion of many genres into one distinct and characteristic sound.ON TOUR6/1 @ Summer Arts and Music Festival | Garberville, CA6/2 @ Wakarusa | Ozark, AR6/6 @ Hive | Sandpoint, ID6/7 @ Alhambra | Portland, OR6/8 @ Re- bar | Seattle, WA 6/12 @ King King Hollywood | Los Angeles, CA6/13 @ The Ruby Room | San Diego, CA6/14 @ Mighty | San Francisco, CA6/13-16 @ Sonic Bloom Festival | Georgetown, CO7/19-21 @ Photosynthesis Festival | Neah Bay, WA7/26 & 7/27 @ FloydFest | Floyd, VA8/8-10 @ The Big Up | Claverack, NY

After setting out on a drive that became a near-endless journey traversing across the thick and thin of Middle America, Caroline Rose returned back east with books full of stories and poems that would become the songs of America Religious, a record that delves neck-deep in topics most people wouldn’t dare to discuss at the dinner table.  From politics to religion, heartbreaking sadness to seemingly endless joy, Caroline Rose traverses a path paved by the likes of Townes Van ZandtJohn Lee Hooker, and Joni Mitchell, to name a few.“I just want to write honest music,” says the songwriter, whose debut album is set for release July of this year. “I don’t feel, nor have I ever felt, any desire to write something that I don’t need to say. I started out writing just for myself, as some sort of outlet, and most of the things that would flow out of my mind were things that were much bigger than me, things that people might want to hear.” From current political issues to vignettes of personal struggles, America Religious depicts stories of a contemporary American society that is far from perfect, yet full of life. “If I can use music to bring to light real things, the hypocrisies and problems in society, as well as the beauty in things people take for granted, then I think that would make me feel pretty good.”The long-awaited official debut album America Religious, co-produced with her partner of four years Jer Coons, is a gospel-meets-country-meets-blues-meets-alternative collection of toe-tapping, roadworthy stories and poetry set to music. Created at Coons’ Parkhill Studio in Burlington, Vermont, the duo are quite proud to say they’ve had complete control over the entire creative process. “I wrote and arranged all the songs, while Jer did all the engineering and nearly all the mixing. He’s great at everything I’m not and vice versa, so it works out real well,” says Rose. On top of producing, recording, and engineering the record themselves, the duo played nearly every instrument, including lap steel, cello, organ, mandolin, drums, and more. Undeniably, America Religious is a unique combination of elements that stands on its own within an increasingly generic industry.June12 - New York, NY @ Bowery Electric28 - Norway, ME @ Cafe NomadJULY1 - Portland ME @ House Concert3 - Cambridge, MA @ Club Passim4 - Brooklyn, NY @ Private Party5 - Center Moriches, NY @ House Concert6 - Center Moriches, NY @ Camp Paquatuck Benefit8 - Washington, DC @ House Concert9 - Charlottesville, VA @ The Garage12 - Fairhope, AL @ Fairhope Brewing Company13 - Jackson, MS @ Martins14 - Fort Worth, TX @ House Concert16 - Albuquerque, NM @ House Concert18 - Santa Barbara,CA @ House Concert19 - Los Angeles, CA @ Hotel Cafe20 - San Francisco, CA @ House Concert25 - Fort Collins, CO @ Moe’s Original BBQ26 - Denver, CO @ Walnut Room27 - Kansas City, MO @ House Concert30 - Davenport, IA @ Daytrotter Session30 - Davenport, IA @ RME CafeAUGUST2 - Louisville, KY @ Haymarket Whiskey Bar4 - Rochester, NY @ House Concert5 - Syracuse, NY @ House Concert6 - New York, NY @ Rockwood Music Hall7 - Amagansett, NY @Stephen Talkhouse

Following the official remix release of El Ten Eleven's song 'Nobody Died This Time!', veteran producer Eliot Lipp (Pretty Lights Music) is pleased to announce that he will be joining El Ten Eleven on an extensive tour this Fall.

ELIOT LIPP:
After more than eight years of global touring, seven solo albums on labels such as Pretty Lights MusicOld Tacoma Records, Hefty Records, and Mush, Eliot Lipp's status as an electronic music pioneer is known to scene experts and weekend warriors alike.  It is a widely known fact that Lipp is an avid connoisseur of vintage analogue gear.  So much so that  you would be in the minority if you caught a show or picked up an album that did not incorporate elements from his huge vintage collection of electronic instruments.  This, in addition to Lipp's eclectic musical taste is one of the reasons why his music is so unique, yet so relevant.

EL TEN ELEVEN:
El Ten Eleven is a Los Angeles, CA post-rock duo known for combining guitar/bass doubleneck or fretless bass, with heavy looping, or vamping, and the utility of an effects pedal, over acoustic or electric drumming (AOL Music).

Particle has announced that they will be touring extensively from coast to coast in 2014 for the first time in nearly six years.  The band will be hitting the East Coast and Southeast on the first leg of their tour, and they'll be making a stop at the Aura Music Festival in Live Oak, FL along the way. Then they head out to the West Coast and Midwest later this Spring, before ending their tour with a Jazz Fest late night at the legendary Howlin' Wolf in New Orleans, LA.  In addition to a heavy touring schedule, the band will be releasing its first full-length studio album since Launchpad (2004).

After forming in 2000, Particle quickly became one of the pioneers of the emerging livetronica scene, and they went on to perform over a thousand concerts in eight different countries. They soon became known for staging epic marathon sets at national festivals including Bonnaroo, Coachella, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. For their upcoming tours, the band will continue its tradition of combining a full light show and multimedia production with their signature mix of high-energy dance music, rock and funk. This is a time of revival for Particle, and it is also a time of change.  Particle's original rhythm section recently announced their departure from the band, sharing their desires to spend more time at home with their families, and less time on the road touring. They gave fellow founding member and keyboardist Steve Molitz their full support to carry the Particle torch along with longtime guitarist Ben Combe and an exciting new rhythm section consisting of bassist Clay Parnell (Brothers Past), and drummer Brandon Draper (Quixotic).  This newly revitalized lineup wrote and recorded over a dozen new songs together in late 2013, and they plan to debut many of the new songs on their upcoming Winter and Spring tours. For the latest Particle news and a complete list of tour dates, visit www.particlepeople.com, Facebook and twitter (@particlepeople).

Andy Frasco and the U.N. will release their 3rd full-length album Half a Man on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014 on Frasco's own label, Fun Machine Records.  Produced by Grammy Award winning Charles Goodan, and recorded at the legendary East West Studios in Hollywood, California Half a Man is perhaps Frasco’s most distinct and divergent album to date. Truly a group effort, Frasco sought to create, as he says, “an album that compliments our live show; raw and soulful songs with my favorite musicians backing me up.”   Some of these musicians included the Kris Lager Band and Philosophy of Soul, members of the Walter Trout Band, as well as members of The Joe Walsh band.   This eclectic collection of musicians helped shape Half A Man into a diverse musical soundscape incorporating core elements of blues, soul, funk, and country while at the same time, maintaining a modern quality and feel.  Half A Man bounces seamlessly from song to song giving the listener plenty of feel good tracks like the Motown inspired “Main Squeeze”, the Prince-defied “Commitment Deficit Disorder”, and the Jerry Lee Lewis-esc “Shakin Ain’t A Crime”, while also showing a more affable, earnest side with songs like the opening track “Sunny Day Soldier,” and “Don’t Ya Worry”.  The band has announced Half a Man record release tours in both the US and in Europe.  Highlights along the Half A Man Tour include a handful of Pre-Wakarusa Party shows with Mike Dillion and his band of Outsiders, 2 sets at Wakarusa, as well as performances at Riverfest, and Alive After Five, Ridgeway, United Way and Newpark Summer Concert Series’.TOUR DATES5.14 - The Hive - Omaha, NE5.15 - Webby D's - Fort Smith, AR5.16 - Festy Fest - Lawrence, KS5.17 - Mother's Day Mother's Brew Fest - Springfield, MO5.20 - Stonewall - Stillwater, OK5.21  - Chugging Monk - Arlington, TX5.22 - Jefferson Street Pub - Lafayette, LA5.23 - Blue Canoe - Tupelo, MS5.24 - Varsity Theatre - Baton Rouge, LA5.25 - Riverfest - Little Rock, AR5.25 - Stickeyz - Riverfest Afterparty - Little Rock, AR5.27 - Exit 1 - Nashville, TN5.28  - Minglewood - Memphis, TN5.29 - 2720 Cherokee - St. Louis, MO            5.30 - Bottleneck - Lawrence, KS5.31 - Crossroads KC - Kansas City, KS6.01 - Castle Theatre - Bloomington, IL            6.02 - Mojo's - Columbia, MO6.05 - 6.08 - Wakarusa - Mulberry Mountain- Ozark, AR6.11 - Mercury Lounge - Tulsa, OK6.12 - the Aggie - Manhattan, KS6.13 - Alibi Pub - Laramie, WY6.14 - Crawfest - Jackson Hole, WY6.16 - Celt - Idaho Falls, ID6.19 - Truckee Downtown Concert Series - Truckee, CA6.20 - Moody’s Bistro - Truckee, CA6.26 - L’Auberge Casino Resort - Lake Charles, LA6.27 - Broadway Oyster Bar - Saint Louis, MO6.28 - Park Street Patio - Columbus, OH (Supporting Lukas Nelson)7.03 - Live After Five - Bozeman, MT7.03 - Zebra – Afterparty Show - Bozeman, MT7.04-7.05 - Whiskey Jaques - Ketchum, ID7.06-7.07 - John’s Alley - Moscow, ID7.10 - Newpark Concert Series - Park City, UT7.11 - Painted Lady - Evanston, WY7.13 - Snow Basin Resort - Huntsville, UT7.17 - Ridgeway Concert Series w/ Orgone - Ridgeway, CO7.17 - Sherbino Theatre - Ridgeway Afterparty - Ridgeway, CO7.18 - Alibi Pub - Laramie, WY7.23 - Bar 10 - Riverton, WY7.24 - United Way Concert Series - Idaho Falls, ID7.24 - the Celt - Idaho Falls, ID7.25 - Roots Retreat Festival - Aspen, CO7.26-7.27 - Hullabaloo Festival - Omaha, NE

Eliot Lipp is a Brooklyn based music producer, touring artist, and analog synthesis black belt. Named one of Vibe magazine’s 'Top 10 Fastest Rising DJs of 2013'Lipp is on the cusp of releasing his 2nd full-length album with Pretty Lights Music, entitled Watch the Shadows (to be released Oct. 14th 2014 as a free download and on iTunes).

Lipp has pushed his 'golden age hip-hop meets the synthesizer' production style into new territory, by fusing soulful organic sounds and all new dance floor mechanics with his classic buttery synth-hop sound, and his undeniably signature melodic charm.

Watch The Shadows is as consistently fresh as it is stylistically diverse. This was the driving factor behind making two tracks available upon the album's announcement. Lipp explores new genres and styles, yet the album stays true and cohesive from start to finish.

Lipp collaborated with indie-electro duo Cherub on the album's official single, "The Western." It's a no nonsense beat on a minimal yet rugged electronic landscape, traversed effortlessly by Cherub's beautifully taunting vocals. This track gives a glimpse of the album's stylistic diversity, but mostly, it's a hot track that invokes the desire to get down and get dirty.

Listen to the official single "The Western" (feat. Cherub) HERE

The album's title track, "Watch the Shadows" is classic Eliot Lipp meets time traveling Eliot Lipp from the future. The beat breathes and moves with life and emotion while the production quality is tasteful, purposeful, and top notch. This track hits no matter where it's heard.

"The track builds and bangs with an irresistible funk and groove." - Indie Shuffle

Listen to the title track "Watch The Shadows" HERE

Lipp is constantly striving to think outside the box and create music with real cultural significance. This is clear when he describes part of his inspiration behind Watch the Shadows.

"I was listening to an old jazz song and this one lyric & melody were really jumping out at me. I traced the melody all the way back to very early Spanish folk music from the 1500s. The way the melody had survived and evolved over such a long period of time really amazed me.  It made me want to make modern music that pays respect to the endless forgotten beauty of the past, and at the same time, adds to the not yet discovered inspiration of the future."

By maintaining core elements of his sound and melodic style—that he spent his career developing—while only sampling original material and turning the soul and swagger level up to ten, Lipp succeeded in making Watch the Shadows the album that he set out to make. It's a body of work that is truly original, and undeniably fresh.

Featured artists on the album include Nick Bockrath of Cage the Elephant, who plays guitar on “Future Forest” and “Ain’t No Guarantee.”

Lipp is currently on the PLM 'Keepin' it Crew' Tour with label mates Michal Menert, SuperVision andPaul Basic. This tour is the first time he is debuting tracks from the Watch The Shadows in his live performance. View all tour dates below.

Download the single and title track, as well as Lipp's first PLM full length album Shark Wolf Rabbit Snake via Pretty Lights Music.

Boston folk are slow to pick faves and don’t easily suffer fools. Their teams, their politics, social discourse and of course, their music all fall to a collectively discerning eye, or in this case, ear. This is why fairly fledgling Beantown champs, The Ballroom Thieves are worth serious consideration everywhere and anywhere else.

Having thus far released 2 well-embraced EPs and being a cinch for local venue sell outs, the Thieves can now offer a step-up debut masterwork, A Wolf In The Doorway, set for release on April 21st (Blue Corn Music).

Tapped already for their adept melding of roots, indie folk and symphonic strains, Ballroom Thieves, who are Martin Earley (guitar), Devin Mauch (percussion) and Calin Peters (cello), (they all sing), push it even further with an album’s worth of new material wherein no two tracks sound the same, but represent a palpably confident identity. “Our own personal growth and explorations in songwriting and musicianship caused us to end up in this unique spot where we can generally feel free to be who we are at all times,” says Earley. “I think we have a certain sound at the moment, but that sound is constantly evolving, and I hope it keeps doing that.”

Literal brothers, Alex and Ben Morrison grew up in a house that was known for its music parties. “The Morrison house was a gathering place for local musicians – everyone would bring an instrument, call out tunes, call out changes, and just play for hours” “I learned more in that living room than in any class I ever took.”  The brothers took this generous, inclusive and rowdy attitude and brought it to life on stages all over the country.

Hot Buttered Rum has announced that they will be recording three 5-song EPs over the next several months, and the band is asking fans for support through a newly launched PledgeMusic Campaign.

"This is the first time we've asked our circles to support us financially at the outset of a project. We thought a lot about this and I really believe in the crowd-funded model. It's certainly better than the record company model where you can end up compromising artistic control, or borrowing a bunch of money, which is expensive and stressful. It's always more fun to be part of the creation of something, and we're inviting our circles to contribute and participate in our process in small or large ways.  We put a lot of effort into creating activities and artifacts that we think will be fun to do and have, so I think - and hope! - that folks will step up." Nat Keefe (guitar and vocals for HBR) explains.

Each EP will be released as one separate download, and together on one disc at the culmination of the project. What's more, and quite possibly what makes this project unique, is that each of the forthcoming EP's will have a specific musical theme and a different producer.  "We want to give our people a lot to listen to, and to challenge ourselves to up our game." says Keefe.

The first EP will be a collection of down-tempo acoustic encore songs; produced by Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth.  Tim is an old friend to the band and one of the bands most admired musicians on the scene today.  HBR is excited to get into the studio and start working with Carbone. Tentative release date for this EP is November 2015.

The second EP will be songs from bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley and will be produced by Sally Van Meter.   Sally's bluegrass resume includes working with the likes of Yonder Mountain String Band, Leftover Salmon, Laurie Lewis and many others.  Tentative release date for this EP is scheduled for Jan 2016.

The third EP will be “Latenight” dance music and produced by Kyle Hollingsworth of String Cheese Incident. The band says that they couldn't think of anyone better than Kyle to help them channel the late-night funky Butter! Tentative release date for this EP is March 2016.

The T Sisters are a vocally driven contemporary folk band hailing from Oakland, California. The three sisters’ inventive songwriting is supported by their own acoustic instrumentation as well as by upright bassist Steve Height and mandolinist/guitar player Andrew Allen Fahlander.  When performing their lively set of originals and covers—occasionally in arresting a cappella–they captivate audiences with close harmonies, creative arrangements, and sassy performance style.  Touching on elements of folk, Americana, gospel, R&B, bluegrass and soul, the T Sisters weave evocative stories with a sound that is at once modern and timeless.

Identical twins Laurie Shook (vocals, banjo, percussion and beatboxing) and Katelyn Shook (vocals, guitar and mandolin) are at the heart of the "quirky" folk group, Shook Twins. A revolving cast of musicians round out the band and include Kyle Volkman (bass), Niko Daoussis (bass, mandolin, guitar) Anna Tivel (fiddle) & Russ Kleiner (percussion). The Shook Twins intertwine gorgeous "twin" harmonies with an eclectic and eccentric blend of folk, roots, pop and fun. But don't be fooled. The Shook Twins are not your average folk group. They have a few tricks up their sleeves. Laurie may drop a beatbox in the middle of a song, while Katelyn plays the guitar, glockenspiel, mandolin, and sings into a telephone and bocks like a chicken. Laurie plays wah-wah banjo and loops various melodies and beats to make it sound like more than just two identical twin sisters.

For the past year Shook Twins have been touring throughout the western states behind their 2011 release "Window." Shook Twins recently opened for Langhorne Slim, Blitzen Trapper, Elephant Revival, Sara Jarosz, David Grisman, Carolina Chocolate Drops. Their song "Rose" was featured in NPR's Muse Mix, and an exclusive audio track was debuted on MTV Hive.

Shook Twins have shared the stage with many prominent artists including Ryan Adams, Mason Jennings, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Laura Veirs, The Fruit Bats, JJ Grey and MoFro, Crooked Still, Scott Law, Darol Anger, Jason Webley, Elephant Revival, The Head and The Heart and many more amazing artists and bands.

The paths of Leftover Salmon and Breckenridge Brewery came together in 2012 when they threw a street party in celebration of the band's Aquatic Hitchhiker album launch. The first of their beer and music collaborations was in 2013. Leftover Salmon created four original songs that were pre-released exclusively through Breckenridge Brewery’s 12-pack Sampler Packs on Artist Series coasters. The relationship has prospered and the groups continue to collaborate on projects like Silver Salmon IPL.

Both Breckenridge Brewery and Leftover Salmon started out with humble beginnings in small Colorado mountain towns.  As both have blossomed and earned national acclaim, each of these institutions have become masters of their own crafts.

Looking back over the past twenty five years of rootsy string-based music, the impact of Leftover Salmon is impossible to deny.  Formed New Year’s Eve in 1989, the Colorado slamgrass pioneers took their form of aggressive bluegrass to rock and roll bars at a time when it wasn’t so common, which helped Salmon become a pillar of the jam band scene and unwitting architects of the jamgrass genre.   High Country, Leftover Salmon’s most recent release, shows off the full palette of artistic diversity including lightning-powered pick n’ grin, to thoughtful blues balladry, and everything in between.

Breckenridge Brewery was founded in 1990 in Breckenridge, Colorado. In the past two decades Breckenridge Brewery has grown from a small 3,000-barrels-a-year brewpub to one of the most successful craft beer and restaurant companies in the nation. It now handcrafts more than 64,000 barrels of fresh beer annually and owns and operates five brewpubs and ale houses in the state of Colorado.

Between Breckenridge Brewery’s 64,000 barrels of handcrafted beer made fresh each year, to Leftover Salmon’s delicious music, whimsical cross genre creations, consistent touring schedule, and progressive mindset Silver Salmon IPL  is sure to be a game changer, by two of the biggest game changers of their kind.

Gipsy Moon is a four-piece group of artists on an endless musical journey, sharing songs with the hopes of planting inspiration into the soul, starting a fire in the heart, and building community that invokes love in its wildest manifestations.
The four members Silas Herman (mandolin, guitar, vocals) Mackenzie Page (guitar, tenor banjo, vocals), Matt Cantor (bass, vocals), and Andrew Connley (Cello) reside in the mountains of Nederland Colorado where they write all original material about nature, sunsets, mountain rain, and love.

With soothing harmonies, soul-stirring poetry, and instrumentals that make the hips sway, Gipsy Moon is constantly reinventing their version of indie-folk to include celtic melodies, latin rhythms, jazzy vocals, bluegrass drive, and a gypsy swing that brings acoustic music into an exciting new dimension. A blending of genres that hippies and poets, lovers and dancers, freaks and families alike can all come together to sing and dance until the sun comes up.

If one should come upon Gipsy Moon, whether on the stage, on the road, or singing in the woods, they should be pleased at the prospect of kicking off their shoes, smiling at the heavens, and getting down and dirty.

Despite their name, the band is anything but Comatose. “It's just one, big, extended Morrison music party,” they say.  Ben and Alex Morrison, guitar and banjo, and lead vocalists, front this rocking string band that has become a West coast headliner and national touring act in a mere four years.

At the heart of this remarkable ensemble are the songs.  With two cds released and plans for a third album in 2015, the band draws from a deep knowledge of folk, rock, traditional and other genres.  Stand out originals such as The Scout and Pie For Breakfast have become anthemic sing-a-longs at shows.  Well chosen covers have ranged from Norman Blake to Keith Richards to Cake. They can also slow down the pace with beautiful original ballads such as Morning Time which was released as a duet with Nicki Bluhm on their current CD, 'Respect The Van'.

This 6-piece string band from San Francisco blends Americana, Folk and Bluegrass with concise song writing to create a unique experience that leaves audiences wanting more.

Hot Buttered Rum lives for a good time, and a mindful recklessness settles in whenever these five guys step on stage. From Anchorage to Miami, the group’s onstage chemistry fuels the love fest that is a live Butter show. Rooted in the trajectory of west coast bluegrass, Hot Buttered Rum plays what has been described as California’s own acoustic music.

HBR’s years of touring have given the band the chance to work and play with a wide cross-section of musicians, people like Peter Rowan, Phil Lesh, Chris Thile, Brett Dennen, and Robert Earl Keen.  Seasoned veteran Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), acoustic guru Mike Marshall, and left-coast rocker Tim Bluhm (Mother Hips, Nicki Bluhm) have all produced studio albums for the band. Each guided HBR towards the next step in its evolution. It’s a sound that is tough to describe and easy to love, and it has found its way to the most prestigious pop, folk, and bluegrass stages in the country: Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo, Strawberry Music Festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Kate Wolf, Horning’s Hideout, Northwest String Summit, Grey Fox, Merlefest, All Good, High Sierra, Wakarusa, and many more.

The next step in Butter’s evolution involves recording three 5-song EPs, each focusing on a part of music that Hot Buttered Rum loves and is inspired by, and each with a different producer. The first EP was recently recorded with Railroad Earth’s Tim Carbone and will be released this fall. The second will be a collection of Ralph Stanley old school bluegrass standards, to be recorded in September with producer Sally Van Meter. The third will be Hot Buttered Rum’s late night throwdown music, to be recorded in November with SCI’s Kyle Hollingsworth. Together, the three collections of songs will explore Butter’s roots and express Butter’s present passions.

At the center of Hot Buttered Rum is the enduring camaraderie of old friends.  The band was conceived on a backpacking trip of high school and college buddies in the High Sierra. What was dreamed up on mountaintops and around campfires has found its way into the hearts, minds, and bodies of thousands.

Eufórquestra (pronounced yoo-FOHR-keh-struh, think euphoria+orchestra) is energy and rhythm personified. An ever-evolving sound that has been influenced by music from all over the world with an emphasis on funk, pocket and groove. For over a decade the band has been igniting dance floors across the country, blending the roots of funk, soul, afrobeat, reggae and dub to create a sound that “explodes, dances and melts in your ear with sheer bliss" (Chris M. Slawecki; AllAboutJazz.com).

Eufórquestra’s fifth full-length record, FIRE, was produced by Kyle Hollingsworth (of The String Cheese Incident) and captures the passion and musical maturing of these road warriors. Over the course of 14 tracks, the band takes you on an hour-long adventure that will touch your heart and mind, and keep your fingers and toes tapping. A handful of special guests, including Elliot Martin (John Brown’s Body), Gabriel Mervine and Kim Dawson (The Motet) and Mr. Hollingsworth himself, put their own touches on the band’s already cohesive sound that is “tight and engineered to a fine, funky precision.” (Jeremy Frazier; Chicago Jam Scene) The result is a record that is distinctly modern, maintaining one foot in the future and firmly planting in the musical roots traditions of the past.

Fresh off the success of their first album, and taking first place in Rockygrass’ Best New Band Competition, Colorado natives, The Railsplitters got busy touring the US, meeting wider audiences, and of course, spending hours in the tour van! As you can imagine from five members traveling across the United States, the musical array pouring out of the van onto the open highway was wildly eclectic, crossing over genre and time. From boundary breaking trip hop and electronica groups like Gorillaz and Thievery Corporation, to more direct influences like The Infamous Stringdusters and Lake Street Dive, the musical potpourri heard in their time on the road eventually began to seep into the band’s own music. With their new album, The Faster It Goes, they’re using these new sounds to break the bonds of bluegrass and unleash tradition. Lauren Stovall and the rest of the ‘Splitters suggest that using your roots to evolve is really at the heart of the genre, not unlike Bill Monroe, who himself was an innovator. With their finger on the pulse, The Railsplitters are pushing the genre forward with an adventurous spirit, carrying in the tradition of breaking boundaries with their innovative sound.

The Railsplitters’ secret weapon is two-fold: first, the innovative imagination of banjo player Dusty Rider’s songwriting, who writes with the full band in mind, imagining an entire song in his head before it’s even heard it out loud. Second, the powerfully distinct vocals of Lauren Stovall whose voice is as clean as Emmylou, as cutting as Allison Krauss, and carrying some of the attitude of Dolly herself. Lauren’s vocal lines fill The Railsplitters’ sound with something distinct and undeniable. In addition, part of The Railsplitters’ new color is brought on by the band’s newest member,Christine King, whose superb fiddling adds a driving force to the band’s sound. With masterfully executed mandolin and banjo by Peter Sharpe and Dusty Rider, and well supported by upright bassist Leslie Ziegler’s innovative style, The Faster It Goes testifies to The Railsplitters’ multipolar and collaborative songwriting, giving voice to the impressive talents of its members and a cohesive character to the sound.

From the first track, “Tilt-A-Whirl,” its clear the The Faster It Goes is exploring modern speeds: “My mind is like an old Tilt-A-Whirl, it never seems to stop, not even for this girl.” With the foot-stomping drive of a reworked traditional tune like, “Salt Salt Sea,” or the complex harmony and aggressive rhythms in “It’s A Little Late,” The Railsplitters are trying to keep up with life, the faster, and faster it goes. While these songs pack an edge and highlight the band’s progression into more pop-influenced numbers, The Railsplitters know that life isn’t only lived in the fast lane, taking a few moments to unwind with earthy tracks like “The Estuary,” which pays tribute to their musical mountain roots, and the album’s hidden track, “Sweet Little Miss Blue Eyes.”

Though they operate with the instrumentation of a bluegrass band, The Railsplitters are making music totally unlimited by tradition. This is music for the open road, the open dance floor, and open ears--music of the American West, made for all.

Catch The Railsplitters at Park House in Denver on New Years Eve!

Looking back over the past 25 years of rootsy, string-based music, the impact of Leftover Salmon is impossible to deny. Formed in Boulder at the end of 1989, the Colorado slamgrass pioneers took their form of aggressive bluegrass to rock and roll bars at a time when it wasn’t so common, helping Salmon become a pillar of the jam band scene and unwitting architects of the jamgrass genre. Today, Leftover Salmon is: Vince Herman (vocals, acoustic guitar, and washboard); Drew Emmitt (vocals, acoustic and electric mandolin, electric guitar, fiddle); Andy Thorn (vocals, acoustic and electric banjo); Greg Garrison (vocals, acoustic and electric bass); Alwyn Robinson (drums).

Though the lineup would change through the years, the foundation of Leftover Salmon remained strongly rooted in the relationship between co-founders Emmitt, Herman, and banjoist, Mark Vann, proceeding through a decade of constant growth and nonstop touring.

On March 4, 2002, Vann lost his battle with cancer. He was only 39 years old. Herman issued in memoriam: "Mark lived life to its fullest and he would insist that we do so as well," so LoS carried on through a succession of replacement players including Matt Flinner, Scott Vestal, Tony Furtado, and Noam Pikelny, but then took a hiatus from touring at the end of 2004.

Had they never played another note, the Leftover Salmon legacy would have been secure; but in the summer of 2007, the band were ready to hit the road again. Soon after, banjo phenom Andy Thorn was brought into the group, a new album, Aquatic Hitchhiker, (2012) was recorded and released to critical acclaim, NPR’s Mountain Stage, for instance, heralding the group as “one of the most beloved acts on America’s summer-festival circuit.”  Said Drew Emmitt of the band’s resumption, “The time is right for this band to come back on a lot of levels. It’s taken us a little while, but I think we’re finally there.”

Enter a man named Bill Payne, who had been circling the LoS orbit for some time now, having produced their 2004 self-titled album. Payne, who had already achieved legendary status as co-founder of the celebrated hybrid country rock outfit, Little Feat, was regarded as one of the finest keyboardists in the biz. By the start of 2014, however, he had also clocked a significant amount of stage time with Leftover Salmon.

And so it was that just a few short weeks ago, September 15th 2014, to be exact, Vince Herman officially inaugurated Bill Payne as an active member of Leftover Salmon in front of 2,500 ravenous fans at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville during the band’s 15th anniversary celebration of their much-loved 1999 album, The Nashville Sessions. How perfectly appropriate!

In same breath, Herman announced a brand new long player, High Country, set for release on November 28th, Black Friday, initially to participating Record Store Day indie outlets nationwide.

High Country is a 12-song, rock/country/bluegrass/blues masterpiece, featuring 10 spanking new LoS offerings, including Thorn’s rollicking title track complete with requisite blistering banjo solo, Herman’s Cajun-flavored kick off, “Get Up And Go,” but also sporting 2 covers- a Payne/Robert Hunter tune called, “Bluegrass Pines” and a Lowell George/Keith Godchaux classic, “Six Feet Of Snow,” immortalized on Little Feat’s, Down On The Farm. Then there’s Emmitt’s progressive ramble n’ roll, “Two Highways,” destined to become a LoS classic. All in all, High Country slips seamlessly in and out of character, disposition and style offering the full palette of Leftover Salmon’s aesthetic, from lightening-powered pick n’ grin to thoughtful blues balladry and all in between. The record’s a classic, if we’ve ever heard one.

Don't ask Front Country what kind of music they play. Just listen.

What started as a group of friends playing bluegrass in San Francisco's Mission District has morphed into a touring powerhouse of song and sound, transcending their humble stringband roots. Front Country's dynamic instrumental textures take flight with grace and gravitas while rooted in the relentlessly soulful vocals of lead singer-songwriter Melody Walker. Along with mandolinist Adam Roszkiewicz, guitarist Jacob Groopman, violinist Leif Karlstrom and bassist Jeremy Darrow, this quintet has been called "passionately intoxicating" and "orchestral" and Melody's bluesy vocals have been described as "rafter-shaking". Seldom traditional, always original, Front Country's new album Sake of the Sound is out now.

Camp Euforia, the camping music festival created by roots and funk band Euforquestra, is celebrating 13 years of music, fellowship and fun by expanding their operations team.  Continuing on their three day expansion from last year, Camp Euforia will be held July 14-16, 2016, and are thrilled to announce their partnership with the seasoned festival and event planning company, Hive Event Consulting.

Hive Event Consulting is owned by Kate Benson and Jason Gilliland, which is based out the Quad Cities area.  Both Kate and Jason have extensive experience in organizing and managing events of all sizes.  Kate Benson is currently the Director of Entertainment for the River Music Experience in Davenport, IA, which also includes talent buying and management of RME’s largest music club, The Redstone Room.  Jason Gilliland is employed at the Downtown Davenport Partnership, which is a division of the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, as their Director of Events.  Jason is responsible for planning and executing Davenport’s major outdoor festival events each year including River Roots Live, Street Fest, and the annual Independence Day celebration, Red, White & Boom.  Both Jason & Kate have also been involved to some degree with numerous other Midwest music festivals, including Summer Camp, Shoe Fest, and Phases of the Moon.  With combined experience, Hive has organized and implemented every aspect of an event, small to large.

Camp Euforia has offered general management duties to Hive Event Consulting this fall in an effort to continue offering a high quality entertainment experience in an intimate rural setting.  Hive believes that by offering their experience and expertise in event and festival planning, Camp Euforia can be better than ever without becoming a 20,000 patron behemoth.

Eric Quiner, Festival Director of Camp Euforia, is eager to get 2016 planning going. “We are anxious to get Hive Event Consulting in and see where we can take the festival. Bringing on Jason and Kate from Hive brings a fresh perspective to the festival.”

Hive is excited and hopeful of the new endeavor as well. Ms. Benson states “Jason and I have been involved with events and festivals for some time and are excited to join the team at Camp Euforia.  This is a highly successful festival already coming into it for us; we aren’t looking to change the formula, just make it even better where that is possible.”

Camp Euforia will take place July 14th through the 16th in 2016, on a beautiful farm landscape located in Lone Tree, Iowa. Early bird tickets to this year’s festival will be on sale in April, with initial artist announcements shortly to follow.  For more information and tickets please visit their new website at www.campeuforia.com.

Hot Buttered Rum has been busy recording three 6-song EPs, each focusing on a part of music that Hot Buttered Rum loves and is inspired by, and each with a different producer. The first EP (The Kite & the Key: Part 1) was recorded with Railroad Earth’s Tim Carbone and was released late 2015. The second will be a collection of Stanley Brothers old school bluegrass standards.  The Kite & the Key: Part 2 was recorded and produced by Sally Van Meter in the fall of 2015. The Kite & the Key: Part 3 will be Hot Buttered Rum’s latenight throwdown music.  These tunes were recorded and produced with SCI's Kyle Hollingsworth and is due out this spring. Together, the three collections of songs will explore Butter’s roots and express Butter’s present passions.

The Kite & the Key: Part 2 is one of those wonderful recordings where you will come to know the Bluegrass roots that Hot Buttered Rum relied upon for inspiration for their more progressive musical leanings that have now brought them full circle with their music. As the second of a three-disk project, HBR brings home for me and for all listeners what Bluegrass music- real Bluegrass- is. With such strong commitment to the Stanley Brothers recordings of nearly 60 years ago, Hot Buttered Rum give the old songs a new spirit, playing with such passion to keeping it real in the mountain style of bluegrass so exemplified by the Stanley Brothers themselves.” — Sally Van Meter

“That Woman,” the much-anticipated new single from Colorado-based Eufórquestra, has truly been a collaborative musical journey from start to finish. In early 2015, drummer Alan Evans (Soulive, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe) released a series of drum tracks online that he titled “Free Funk Friday.” The idea was to offer up hard-hitting drum grooves for free and to encourage friends and fans to write their own music on top. Matt Wright (EUF keys) got his hands on one of these tracks and quickly wrote “That Woman.” He states that altering the songwriting process was a fresh and exciting approach. “I’ve been a fan of Alan’s work for a long time, so when he released this groove online I immediately jumped at the opportunity to develop it into a Eufórquestra song.”

“That Woman” was written shortly after the initial release of the drum tracks and EUF wanted to make a great-sounding recording to send back to Evans. Over the course of 2015, Mike Tallman (EUF guitar) began accumulating vintage and modern recording equipment in an effort to build a mostly-analog home studio. By fall, he had the pieces in place to take a stab at a proper recording and the band decided to revisit “That Woman.” Tallman recorded Evans’ original drum track to analog tape on an old Tascam 388 recording console and overdubbed the rest of the Eufórquestra crew there in an effort to create an old-school aesthetic. The result is a soulful and heavy modern funk tune that captures the thick, analog vibe of an obscure funk 45 from the ‘70s. “This has been a really creative and fun project for the band,” says Tallman. “Matt wrote a great tune on top of Alan’s drum track and it was an exciting process building on top of that.”

The band presented the song to Evans in late 2015 and was met with enthusiasm over the final product. Each party decided the track should be an official release. To bring the collaboration full circle, Evans did the final master of the track at his home studio (Playonbrother Studios) in Massachussetts. The collaboration was taken and expanded a step further when EUF/Evans’ mutual friend Jeff Franca (Congo Sanchez, Thievery Corporation live band) agreed to create an infectious reggae remix and an extended club remix of the song.

“That Woman” is available for download on iTunes, Bandcamp, and CDBaby. The 7” vinyl 45 is available for pre-order at euforquestra.com. The official music video can be see on YouTube.

Eufórquestra already has plans to get back in to the studio to cut another single, this time partnering with Sergio Rios of Orgone and tracking at his studio, Killion Sound, in North Hollywood. Stay tuned to EUF’s social channels for details. The band has released an extensive tour schedule for Winter/Spring 2016 so be sure to catch them live when they come to your area!euforquestra.com

Eufórquestra's goal in creating Camp Euforia has always been a seamless gelling of community and music. The festival focuses on the Iowa City music scene, but each year a handful of performers from across the country and Eufórquestra's touring friends are invited in to come and experience the magic!

In 2004 Eufórquestra was based in Iowa City and decided to host their own music festival. They established a connection with a local farmer Jerry Hotz and asked him to partner with them by hosting Camp on his farm. Jerry was just as excited about the idea as the band was. The festival has been held on Jerry's property since its inception and as a result Eufórquestra and Jerry have become great friends as well as partners. Looking back over the past 25 years of rootsy, string-based music, the impact of Leftover Salmon is impossible to deny. Formed in Boulder at the end of 1989, the Colorado slamgrass pioneers were one of the first bluegrass bands to add drums and tour rock & roll bars, helping Salmon become a pillar of the jam band scene and unwitting architects of the jam grass genre.

Leftover Salmon will host their first ever Blue Ridge Jam in Asheville this May! Leftover Salmon's Blue Ridge Jam added another wave of artists to the lineup! LoS is happy to announce that Jason Carter of The Del McCoury Band, The Larry Keel Experience, Sanctum Sully, and Grandpa's Cough Medicine are joining the Jam!

Zack and Sam DuPont are a Burlington, VT based, sibling indie-folk-americana duo. Since the start of the band in March of 2013, the brothers have toured heavily throughout the Northeast, Mid Atlantic, South and Midwest in a fully independent pursuit to get their songs to as many ears as possible.

Their travels have opened doors to festival appearances at SXSW & Grand Point North in addition to performances in support of some of their musical heroes including Bahamas, Blake Mills, Sturgill Simpson Ben Sollee, Chris Eldridge & Julian Lage and Jerry Douglas to name a few.

What the DuPont Brothers are most excited about is the next phase. This past year, they have been working on a new album with VT producer, Michael Chorney along with an all-star cast of local Vermont based musicians. Their sophomore full length and first ever vinyl release, A Riddle For You  will hit stores on June 3rd.

Eliot Lipp is streaming his entire new album on Billboard.com starting today, May 10th. Lipp's new album, 'Come To Life' was released everywhere on Friday, May 13th.

Through several life changing and artistically inspiring events, 'Come To Life' was born. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Lipp recently made a move from New York City back to his hometown of Tacoma, Washington to be with family during trying times.  For the first time in his musical career, Lipp turned to music production as a form of self medication and therapy.  Exiting the hustle and bustle of NYC and arriving in the lush and nature filled state of Washington was part of Lipp's recent coming to life.  The other part was facing the tragedies and the hardships of life and family.  With this new record, Lipp is hoping others can find the same peace, solitude and direction as he did.

Eliot Lipp is a veteran musician and sound designer gearing up to release his 9th studio album,

Come To Life (Old Tacoma Records, Pretty Lights Music) May 13, 2016.After more than a decade living in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York (but equally home on the road), the intrepid producer returned to his roots in the Pacific Northwest before recording the album, much of which came together over a single inspired weekend.

Returning home provided Lipp with new inspirations for his blend of sampledelic funk and techno inspired hiphop beats. The mossy green woods and snowy mountains of the Pacific Northwest were essential to the ambiance and texture of the sounds. The result is a digital landscape filled with beautiful analog creations.

"The music I make is a soundtrack to my life" explains Lipp.  "I made this record to help me stay positive while life was being a little rough on me. I discovered a therapeutic power in music I never knew existed."

Come To Life is a musical journey all the way through.  The album showcases many different musical stylings and shows off Lipp's musicianship.

"Somewhere between the instrumental hiphop on my first records and my more recent dance floor inspired beats, I found that a certain funk in all of that remains consistent. This new album is about an awakening so I felt it was important to dig back in to my musical past for inspiration. I came back with some well rounded electronic grooves."

In anticipation of the album release, Lipp will hit the road for several dates across the country with Blockhead, as well as Late Night Radio and SuperVision.

Be sure to keep up at eliotlipp.com for up to date info, album news, and tour date announcements.

About:

Looking back over the past 25 years of rootsy, string-based music, the impact of Leftover Salmon is impossible to deny. Formed in Boulder at the end of 1989, the Colorado slamgrass pioneers took their form of aggressive bluegrass to rock and roll bars at a time when it wasn’t so common, helping Salmonbecome a pillar of the jam band scene and unwitting architects of the jamgrass genre. Today, Leftover Salmon is: Vince Herman (vocals, acoustic guitar, washboard); Drew Emmitt (vocals, acoustic and electric mandolin, electric guitar, fiddle); Andy Thorn (vocals, acoustic and electric banjo); Greg Garrison (vocals, acoustic and electric bass); Alwyn Robinson (drums).

And so it was that just a few short weeks ago, September 15th 2014, to be exact, Vince Herman officially inaugurated Bill Payne as an active member ofLeftover Salmon in front of 2,500 ravenous fans at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville during the band’s 15th anniversary celebration of their much-loved 1999 album, The Nashville Sessions.

Then there’s Emmitt’s progressive ramble n’ roll, “Two Highways,” destined to become an LoS classic. All in all, High Country slips seamlessly in and out of character, disposition and style offering the full palette of Leftover Salmon’s aesthetic, from lightening-powered pick n’ grin to thoughtful blues balladry and all in between. The record’s a classic, if we’ve ever heard one.

Sun, 10/02/2016 - 11:24 am

So far, 2016 has been a busy year for Front Country.  With two European Tours and several festival appearances back in the states at staples such as ROMP Bluegrass Roots & Branches Festival, Red Wing Roots Music Festival, Bristol Rhythm and Roots, and The Americana Music Festival.

Front Country also released a highly anticipated Mixtape Covers EP earlier this year.  The EP followed the band's debut studio album Sake of the Sound.  NPR featured the title track from that record in their recent show previewing the Americana Music Festival.  Front Country will continue a rigorous tour schedule through the end of 2016, and fans can look out for a new studio album coming in 2017.

Catch Front Country on tour this fall, including a couple Colorado shows October 21st in Lyons, CO and October 22nd in Denver, CO.

Potions and Poisons is the fourth studio album of original music from Head for the Hills, the Colorado based post-modern bluegrass outfit of Adam Kinghorn, Joe Lessard, Matt Loewen and Sam Parks. There’s no reinvention of the wheel here--no computer programmed banjo rolls or digitally arpeggiated fiddle lines. Instead we find Head for the Hills at the peak of their powers of musical alchemy, building little worlds of sound from the detritus of bluegrass, jazz, hip hop, folk and soul. Potions and Poisons is a look at the darker side of love, lust, and life; an examination of our affinity for and aversion to the things that make us fragile but human. Recorded at home in Colorado with the band’s go-to engineer, Aaron Youngberg (Cahalen and Eli, Martha Scanlan, Grant Gordy and Ross Martin), the record features appearances from Bonnie Paine (Elephant Revival) on vocals and washboard, Erin Youngberg (Uncle Earl, FY5) on vocals, and a lush string section. Potions and Poisons is the most Head for the Hills record yet, and in the great tradition of bluegrass (and soul and folk and old time music), it delivers some bitter pills, but the ten new original songs are more than a survey of the human condition. This is reflective but buoyant music, restorative and full of vibrancy.

Head for the Hills prides itself on defying expectation, turning neophytes into converts and genre purists exploratory listeners. Remaining true to the roots of bluegrass while simultaneously looking to it’s future prospects, the band makes music that reaches into jazz, indie rock, hip hop, soul, world and folk to stitch together cutting edge songs that bridge the divide between past and future acoustic music. More than a decade in and after thousands of miles, hundreds of performances, a handful of independently released records, 4 times awarded Best Bluegrass in Colorado via Westword Magazine, and one new mandolin player--Head for the Hills is at their absolute peak, firing on all cylinders and winning the hearts and minds of audiences everywhere they go.

Head for the Hills have been bringing their music to audiences from the Telluride Bluegrass Festival to South by Southwest and a multitude of stages in between--including Summer Camp Music Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, RockyGrass, DelFest, Northwest String Summit, Blue Ox Music Festival, FloydFest, Strawberry Music Festival and many more. The band has been featured on NPR Ideastream and eTown, co-released beers with Odell Brewing Company and Sanitas Brewing, charted on the CMJ Top 200 (Blue Ruin, 2013 and Head for the Hills, 2010), and was featured by CMT – Edge,
