GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Amythyst Kiah is on deck this weekend to perform for North Carolina’s distinguished No Contact Concert Series live stream showcase. A celebrated voice in the Americana circuit, the Johnson City native boasts a commanding stage presence and gutting vocal tenor that never fails to captivate both in-person and on-screen. This Saturday, August 22 at 8:00 PM EDT, Kiah will bring her soulful brand of roots music and rich storytelling to Codex Sound’s stage in Hickory, NC for a free broadcast, complete with some brand new tunes and a five-piece band.

Unable to tour due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and live music standstill, Kiah will offer old fans and new a digital front row seat thanks to No Contact Concert Series’ high-quality audio/video setup. Viewers may tune in via YouTube or Facebook to get in on the fun. No Contact Concert Series is proud to partner with WNCW Radio, Catawba Brewing Company, Midwood Entertainment, and American Video Productions, who will also be cross-streaming the event from their respective social media platforms.

Additional No Contact Concert Series performances this season include Athens, GA-based folk outfit Cicada Rhythm on August 30 and Asheville, NC funksters The Fritz on September 5, with a special season closer to be announced soon. For more information, visit www.crowd-less.com.

ABOUT AMYTHYST KIAH
Born in Chattanooga and based in Johnson City, Amythyst Kiah’s commanding stage presence is matched by her raw and powerful vocals—a deeply moving, hypnotic sound that stirs echoes of a distant and restless past. Our Native Daughters, her recent collaboration with Rhiannon Giddens, Leyla McCalla, and Allison Russell (Birds of Chicago), has delivered a full-length album produced by Rhiannon Giddens and Dirk Powell, Songs of Our Native Daughters (out now on Smithsonian Folkways). NPR described the opening track, Black Myself, written by Amythyst, as “the simmering defiance of self-respect in the face of racism.” The song was nominated for a Grammy for Best American Roots Song. Provocative and fierce, Amythyst’s ability to cross boundaries is groundbreaking and simply unforgettable. Her stylistic range will be on full display in her next full-length album expected in 2021.
