Acclaimed singer, songwriter and musician Katie Pruitt is launching her new podcast, “The Recovering Catholic,” today via Osiris Media. Listen the trailer and the first episode featuring special guest Semler via Osiris, Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

With new episodes debuting every other week, “The Recovering Catholic” explores the idea of God from a variety of perspectives as Pruitt attempts to discover a new spiritual identity. In each installment, Pruitt and her guests discuss reconciling religious upbringing with personal truth and what it means to be spiritual in the modern age. Additional guests to be featured include Julien Baker, Leslie Jordan, Ruston Kelly, Jaime Wyatt and more.

Of the project, Pruitt shares, “As a spiritual person who doesn’t affiliate with organized religion, I’ve never known what to say when people ask me what I believe in. As I joke, I tell them ‘I’m a Recovering Catholic’…because there are parts of my religious upbringing that have never left me and other parts that have left me a little broken. In attempt to heal some of that religious trauma I reached out to some of the most enlightened and inspiring individuals I know and recorded our conversations. That’s right folks I started a podcast. Come get existential me starting today on ‘The Recovering Catholic Podcast.’”

The podcast adds to a series of breakout years for Pruitt, who will embark on an extensive headline tour this fall including upcoming stops at Minneapolis’ 7th Street Entry (sold out), Denver’s Lost Lake Lounge (sold out), San Francisco’s Brick & Mortar Music Hall, Los Angeles’ The Hotel Café (sold out), Houston’s White Oak Music Hall, Dallas’ Three Links (sold out), Washington DC’s DC9, New York’s Mercury Lounge (two shows, both sold out), Boston’s Brighton Music Hall, Evanston’s Space and Nashville’s The Basement East among several others. Pruitt will also join City and Colour for select dates later this month. See below for complete tour itinerary.

The forthcoming tour celebrates the release of Pruitt’s widely acclaimed debut album, Expectations, which was released last year on Rounder Records (stream/purchase here). Co-produced by Pruitt and her close friend Mike Robinson, Expectations consists of ten new songs written solely by Pruitt and debuted to overwhelming critical praise.

Originally from the Atlanta suburbs and now based in Nashville, Pruitt has been building to a career breakthrough over the past few years following the release of her OurVinyl Live Session EP in March 2018. Since the release, Pruitt has been highlighted as a Rolling Stone “Artist You Need To Know,” one of NPR Music’s “Slingshot: 20 Artists To Watch In 2019” and Southwest Magazine’s “Artists on the Rise” and has been featured on NPR Music’s “Tiny Desk (Home) Concert” series as well as “CBS This Morning” as part of their Saturday Sessions series.
