Grateful Web recently had the honor of speaking with Bill Payne about the upcoming milestone of 50 years of Little Feat in 2019. Payne’s depth as an artist goes much farther than Little Feat’s founding pianist, co-songwriter and vocalist. A photographer, poet, one of the hardest working and best damn American rock musicians since the 1970s.

This past Tuesday night, in an event billed as the Jam Jar, northeastern jambands Eggy, Fondude and Peak rocked The Brooklyn Bowl three times over, giving the famed Williamsburg venue over four hours of spirited, creative live music.

Becoming a Dead Head was and still is a remarkable thing, much richer and more complex than simply deciding to like a band.  It means becoming part of a community, a family of kindred souls.  It’s about celebration but also about learning – new music forms, whether it’s obscure blues or chanting monks or … everything.

Two of the three remaining Certified Guitar Players (an honor bestowed by Chet Atkins)--TOMMY EMMANUEL and JOHN KNOWLES--will release their collaborative instrumental album HEART SONGS on Friday, January 11 via CGP Sounds/Thirty Tigers. The twosome also just launched their tour this past Tuesday night (January 8) in San Francisco, a coast-to-coast swing with multiple two-night engagements set for New York, Boston, Alexandria (VA), Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Franklin (TN). The tour wraps February 26 in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry.

The 10th annual California Roots Music and Arts Festival is proud to announce their final round of artists for their milestone 2019 event. Cali Roots X will take place at the historic Monterey County Fair and Event Center from May 24-26, 2019. Adding to the already stacked lineup is Slightly Stoopid and Friends, Atmosphere, SOJA, Tash Sultana, Citizen Cope, Steel Pulse, The Movement, Jesse Royal, Ballyhoo!, Ocean Alley and For Peace Band.

The young Michigan rock band Greta Van Fleet has been making a splash in the music world over the last few years after extensive festival appearances across the nation and around the world. Dunn, North Carolina, native Clint Alphin is set to release his fourth album, Straight to Marrow, on March 29th.

This Friday, January 11th, Colorado’s WhiteWater Ramble will release the second song in a series of forthcoming singles and videos called, aptly, “Drinking Song.” This is the first track from the high-octane Rocky Mountain dance-grass band by founding member and James Brown guitarist Damon Wood. The accompanying video follows January’s release of “Hollow,” the dramatic first single from the band in six years.
