Bill MacKay is a musician and a musician's friend - a genial guitarist/composer/improviser based in Chicago who has energized the experimental folk, rock and avant scenes around town with his polyglot approach to the guitar, combining the folk of Appalachia, the blues and gospel with rock, jazz, western-country and an array of eastern modes. Mackay's interest in this tactic - essentially, a personal blending of roots elements - has evidence itself throughout his discography.

Garbage announced THIS IS THE NOISE THAT KEEPS ME AWAKE, an autobiographical coffee table book due out July 4, 2017 via Akashic Books. Now, for the first time, the band's four members (Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig) tell the story of their incredible journey in their own words. The book includes never before seen photographs of the band as well as pieces written by each of the four band members. THIS IS THE NOISE THAT KEEPS ME AWAKE was written with former Rolling Stone journalist Jason Cohen.

Huka Entertainment's Tortuga Music Festival has announced its daily music lineup, as well as an on-sale date of Feb. 24 for single-day tickets. Now in its fifth year, the three-day celebration takes place April 7-9 and features headliners Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton and Kenny Chesney. They'll be joined by some of the biggest names in country, rock and roots music, all performing in the beautiful oceanside setting of Ft. Lauderdale Beach Park in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

The sixth annual edition of the Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance is happening throughout Miami and Miami Beach this week. GrassRoots Live! features nearly two dozen national and local acts performing over the course of five days (February 22 – 26) at seven local venues, including a Sunday beach jam finale on Virginia Key.

New England based singer-songwriter Ryan Montbleau has announced the release of his new album entitled I Was Just Leaving set for March 3rd.  The album, currently available for pre-order at Pledge Music was produced by New Orleans' Anders Osborne and recorded in January 2016.

The Travelin' McCourys started a very special string of shows called 'The Grateful Ball' in 2016. The show consists of a set of music from The Jeff Austin Band, a set of music from The Travelin' McCourys and then a set with both bands playing all Grateful Dead songs. While the band initially only planned to do one run, the success of the shows and demand from fans across the country made them rethink and plan a few more shows, this time on the West Coast.
