Shining Stone Records announces the signing of Connecticut-based guitarist Paul Gabriel, and will release his label debut CD, What’s the Chance, on June 18. Produced by Duke Robillard, What’s the Chance features Paul Gabriel backed by a core band of Billy Bileca on bass, Nick Longo on drums and Larry “Buzzy” Fallstrom on keyboards.
Former Grateful Dead keyboardist Tom Constanten and Normal Bean will release an album together. It was recorded Live in 2012, and has extra studio tracks from Tom and Normal, that the Label has been holding back. the CD is Due out from GRAGROUP in August. The Band has scheduled a few dates in California and West Virginia for a CD release tour.

It's amazing that Built To Spill has been around for over 20 years. In that time, Doug Martsch's little outfit has released seven full albums, three compilation and live albums, several EP’s and singles and gone through numerous lineup changes. Remarkably, however, the band’s sound has stayed relatively consistent, as have the excellent live performances. This is all a credit to Martsch, whose passion for songwriting and performing haven’t waned one bit over the years.
After a spirited Jazz Fest, the Meter Men (3/4 of the original Meters) and Page McConnell from Phish came to Denver to play a sold out show at the Ogden Theater. They even added another show because of the huge demand for a place to see these legends culminate on stage.

This got me thinking about why I love writing for Grateful Web. By trade, I am a server, a lowly waitress. I once waited the table of a local musician and although I was probably too busy to engage in conversation, he is a really talented bass player. I couldn’t help it. During the early 1990s while growing up in middle America I was making the transformation from teenager to adult. My personal changes were not unlike what the country in general was going through. The awkward years of George Bush gave way to the prosperous reign of President Clinton. During this time there was another interesting transition going on in popular music and culture. The dominant days of hair metal bands were fading (like my stone-washed jeans), and the glam gave way to grunge which ushered in a new era of rock n' roll.
