The rain held off and the crowds flooded in, on Friday's kickoff to the tenth anniversary of the Forecastle Festival in Louisville, Kentucky. Down to the very last minute volunteers and staff worked diligently to place each piece of ship wreckage in its specific location for a record crowd that wrapped down Witherspoon Street. Throughout the weekend more than 35,000 attendees came together on the banks of the Ohio River to take part in the celebration of music, art, and activism.
Back for a second straight year the Harvest Festival will feature the 2nd annual Fiddlin' and Pickin' Contest! Categories include mandolin, fiddle, banjo and flatpicking; winners receive a cash prize and gift basket.
Submissions are available online in advance and will also be accepted up to 15 minutes before the competition begins. Even if you aren't a Fiddler or Picker be sure and stop by The Roost to check out all the talent!
The 38th Annual Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Uncle Pen Days Festival will be held September 19-22, 2012 at the Bill Monroe Memorial Bluegrass Music Park & Campground in Brown County, Indiana. The artists will be releasing their first collaborative album on September 11 entitled Love This Giant, to be released worldwide by 4AD under exclusive license from Byrne’s label Todo Mundo.
Shout out to the Vibe Tribe out there for Dylan Muhlberg. This year I have the distinct pleasure of covering the 17th annual Gathering of the Vibes festival, which is celebrating its eighth year in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Bridgeport is a diverse city on the Connecticut shoreline off of the Long Island Sound. The venue, Seaside Park, has hosted the Gathering all these years and by all counts is an incredible site.

Jomeokee Music and Arts Festival is pleased to announce additional artists to its first annual festival lineup.
