Daniel Rodriguez's New Single "Johnny"

Article Contributed by DIY Music PR | Published on Saturday, December 15, 2018

In his second single as a solo musician, Daniel Rodriguez explores a sound different from his offerings in Colorado folk band Elephant Revival. “Johnny” features a dramatic and mysterious Latin groove, courtesy of special guests Tyler Thompson and Jeff Leonard of Fruition, Darren Garvey of Elephant Revival, Sam Trump of Sidewalk Chalk, and Lewi Longmire. “Johnny” is the second single to be released from Rodriguez’s upcoming EP release, out February 15, 2019.

“The story in the song follows Johnny, who steps outside the box of society, the neighborhood block, the bounds of pavement, electric wires and cell phone towers. It’s a getting lost is being found kind of song,” Rodriguez tells The Bluegrass Situation.

“Johnny” is out now and can be heard in its December 13 premiere in The Bluegrass Situation as well as on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Catch Daniel Rodriguez on tour with Fruition at the adjoining ends of 2018 and 2019. Tour dates below.

ABOUT DANIEL RODRIGUEZ

With over a decade under his belt with Elephant Revival, Rodriguez is well-versed in the Americana tour circuit. Before going on hiatus, after their third headlining Red Rocks show in May 2018, Elephant Revival had released six albums and performed countless shows and festivals across the nation as well as overseas.

Needing to fill the musical void that might have become following Elephant Revival’s hiatus announcement, Rodriguez almost immediately headed out on tour as a solo artist. In addition to Fruition, he’s been chosen as main support for bands including Mandolin Orange, Josh Ritter, John Craigie, and Birds of Chicago, and he has been booked at numerous music festivals across the country and abroad.

As a solo musician, Daniel Rodriguez, turns to his acoustic guitar for memorable, melodic hooks to accompany his poetic and contemplative folk songs. Boulder Weekly refers to Rodriguez’s voice as “a timeless folk voice, deep and hearty, weathered but comforting.”
