Critically acclaimed husband & wife duo Shovels & Rope will bring a special performance to Boulder Theater on March 9 as part of their intimate spring tour. "An Evening With Shovels & Rope" is a limited run of shows specially curated for smaller, more intimate venues that allow the band to take their time and stretch out musically. The night will still feature Shovels & Rope's full musical set up, but will also find them performing deep cuts, as well as testing out new songs, telling stories in a way that is not usually possible in larger venues, and possibly even taking requests.

"They mix all of my favorite genres (country, folk, punk, and rock) together seamlessly, and have been releasing gorgeous “alt-country” albums years before Kacey Musgraves and Sturgill Simpson were household names." - Noisey

Shovels & Rope recently released their second surprise collaborative effort, Busted Jukebox Vol. 2, which features the multitalented Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent (aka Shovels & Rope) recording new versions of a thoughtfully curated selection of songs with a celebrated group of artists/friends. Produced by Trent, the album features 10 diverse tracks originally written and recorded by an eclectic list of artists, including The Clash, Concrete Blonde, Leonard Cohen, Faith No More, Sigur Ros, The Breeders, Willie Nelson and more. Artists such as Brandi Carlile, Hayes Carll, Nicole Atkins, John Fullbright and Rhett Miller help inject a new energy into the revised renditions of these tried and true classics. Hear Shovels & Rope and Hayes Carll cover The Clash's "Death or Glory" via Rolling Stone Country.

"From birth to death and back to birth again, Hearst and Trent take us through the entire cycle of life on 'Little Seeds'." - NPR Music

Shovels & Rope's latest studio album, Little Seeds (New West Records), has received the most critical praise of their career, with many hailing it as their finest and most personal album to date. The duo's penchant for writing literate, Southern Gothic infused songs that exude a dark humor, deep sentiment and the celebration of the genuine, quirky and beautiful things in life has never shined brighter than it does here. Little Seeds has garnered positive reviews everywhere from NPR Music to The New York Times and Garden & Gun, with extensive features at Entertainment Weekly, Noisey, Relix, and the cover of Southwest: The Magazine. (See Highlights). The duo has been touring and performing to sold out crowds coast to coast almost non-stop since release Little Seeds, including apperances on Conan and CBS This Morning. Shovels & Rope will be returning to the studio soon in preparation for their next studio album.
