Infamous Stringdusters

Borderland Festival, one of the region’s most popular music and art festivals, makes its return to Knox Farm State Park, just 15 minutes from downtown Buffalo, September 15th through the 17th.  That’s right – now a three-day festival starting on Friday, Borderland will celebrate its fifth year with more than 20 bands on 2 stages.

“This tune has what we like to refer to in the bluegrass world as drive,” says The Infamous Stringdusters’ Andy Hall of their brand new take on Flatt and Scruggs’ “Down The Road.” “Not too fast…but powerful,” he laughs. And he isn’t wrong, especially in the capable hands of this GRAMMY-winning quintet. “Down The Road” is the second single from the Stringdusters’ upcoming album, A Tribute To Flatt & Scruggs—out April 21st via the band’s own Americana Vibes label.

The Caverns is proud to present the second annual CaveFest, featuring a curated line-up of music over three days. Headliners include Sam Bush, Leftover Salmon, The Infamous Stringdusters, Peter Rowan, and The Travelin’ McCourys, plus artists-in-residence Lindsay Lou, on-site camping, open underground jam sessions, cave tours, delicious food trucks, local vendors, and more.

Over the weekend, The Infamous Stringdusters wrapped up their Colorado based, nine date Ski Dust tour. Starting at the end of February, the band hit Frisco’s Ten Mile Music Hall to kick things off before moving south to Crested Butte and Telluride. With a total of six shows to say goodbye to February, the month of March would get the second half of the tour with a turn towards the north country and the Front Range.

Every June—for the past five decades—music fans known as Festivarians have made their annual pilgrimage to the box canyon town of Telluride, Colorado, for the legendary Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Inspired by the beauty of the natural landscape and the skillfully played music from a multitude of genres, this legendary gathering has long been a bucket list destination for musicians and music fans alike.

When it came time for the Infamous Stringdusters to record their new album, A Tribute to Flatt & Scruggs, the band gathered in the studio and pressed record; all at once, all together, just like the bluegrass pioneers whose music they were picking. Hot on the heels of yet another GRAMMY nomination—this time for their latest LP, Toward The Fray—the Stringdusters are revisiting the forefathers of the genre in a way not too distant from their GRAMMY-nominated A Tribute to Bill Monroe.

After finally being in the same room for the first time in six months, the Infamous Stringdusters seized the moment for their revealing new album, Toward the Fray. Inspired by self-reflection and a strong sense of solidarity, the project documents the Grammy Award-winning group’s remarkable growth as instrumentalists as well as songwriters. Released on their own label, Americana Vibes, the collection also firmly establishes the band’s stature on the modern acoustic music landscape, where they’ve built a solid and enduring fan base among traditional and progressive audiences alike.
