Tenth Mountain Division

Although Colorado is well known for getting a tour stop by every big name in music, sometimes it is the local band that makes the night special, especially when gigging in any number of the state’s small clubs or outdoor venues. Last Friday, Tenth Mountain Division was one such band that brought the heat to Mishawaka Amphitheater, one of Northern Colorado’s best kept secrets nestled in the Poudre Canyon just outside of Fort Collins.

Colorado-based band Tenth Mountain Division is excited to independently release their latest album, Butte La Rose, June 18. Produced by Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth) at Silo Sound Studio in Denver, Butte La Rose captures the essence of Tenth Mountain Division—fun, danceable, and surprisingly thoughtful and heartfelt.

Mark Pietrovito is not afraid to rely on his friends when the need arises.  The former mandolin player for Part & Parcel is blessed with many of them and doesn’t take any for granted.

Recently, Pietrovito found himself at a crossroads in his life.  His band, comprised of some of his longest and best friends, had just called it quits. He was looking for a new direction while facing adversity on many fronts.

Derek Dames Ohl, bass player and vocalist from Flash Mountain Flood and a well-known solo artist has delivered a special tune for the holiday season, accompanied by a music video full of nostalgia. “Blue Skies It’s Christmas Time” is a soft, sincere song that truly pulls at the heartstrings while giving a beautiful nod to Ohl’s home state of Colorado.

Colorado band Tenth Mountain Division is pushing the sound found in the mountains in bold new directions with their high-energy and exploratory take on Americana, draws influences from classic Southern rock, the progressive bluegrass that was born in their backyard, and the adventurous spirit of 60s psychedelic.
