Celebrate ten years of Campout for the Cause at the stunning Meadows in Buena Vista June 1st - 3rd, 2018. Only minutes from town, The Meadows is a picturesque site of cottonwood trees, hay meadows and babbling brooks, all set in front of the breathtaking backdrop of the snow capped Collegiate Peaks.

Campout has spent the last decade manifesting an inspiring environment that stimulates creativity, facilitates openness and energizes the soul. More than just a music festival, Campout for the Cause encourages deeper reflection through workshops, discussions and awareness that starts within.

The main musical area will feature the stylings of musical acts Mandolin Orange, The Lil Smokies, Bonfire Dub, Tierro with Bridget Law, Intuit and Grant Farm. Additional artists Include Pickin On the Dead, Pixie and the Partygrass Boys, Ramona, Sound Travels, and the Campout All Stars. Do not forget about the signature campfire picks. They will be plentiful and ever morphing.

At Campout, the mind and soul are as important as the music. There will be a secondary area devoted to classes, workshops, and a kids zone. There is also a small pond, a short walk down the road, dedicated to improving paddleboard skills and SUP yoga.

Included in admission is  a variety of workshops that encourage patrons to connect in an inspired setting: yoga, movement, sustainability, songwriting workshops, dance, social activism and workshops for children. Campout also offers as many yoga stars to learn from as musical stars including Campout veteran yogis like Gina Caputo, Julia Clarke, Kim Fuller, Bobby L’Hereaux and Heath Perry. These classes and workshops invigorate the body and soul leaving the spirit wide open for the evening music.

“Campout was never about any one band or person. The goal has always been to create a family of artists and fans who can come together in a comfortable setting to let the true artistic moments happen. We never book talent for one show, one time slot, we book acts that want to play and participate in the entire experience of a gathering. This is our time to give back, and the charity is closer to our heart than ever” - founder Scotty Stoughton.

In its 10th year, Campout is dedicating profits to local grassroots fund, Emmy’s Friends. Created in 2017 Emmy’s Friends is a fund benefiting Emery Welle, a 2-year-old from Red Cliff, CO who was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma. She and her family have been fighting this disease the majority of her life and Campout is proud to continue to aid her in that fight.

Additionally, Campout for the Cause will donate a portion of proceeds to the South Main Arts and Park Trust, a Buena Vista local non-profit started by the founders of the South Main Neighborhood. This trust was formed to bring art, culture and world-class recreation to the neighborhood and to Buena Vista as a whole.

Campout is for the family. There is a multitude of idyllic camping onsite, much of is shaded and near the soft babbling waters of the Cottonwood Creek, all of it sitting against snow capped 14,000’ peaks. There will be an area zoned for families away from the main traffic of the festival crowd. There will also be a family activity zone for games and some special visits from many of the performers.

Doors open at noon on Friday, June 1st and the festival ends at sunset on Sunday, June 3rd. Tickets start at $99 for the weekend, and only 1,000 will be available. The ticket price includes camping as well as all music, workshops and yoga classes. A special teen ticket is available for ages 13-20 at $49. Carpooling is always encouraged. Limited RV parking will also be available for an additional $99. Everyone in RVs must purchase an advanced ticket. Dogs are not allowed.

A one-time home to the Olympics. Impeccable view of Lake Tahoe. Iconic tram rides to High Camp. A serene Sierra Nevada experience. The 5th annual WinterWonderGrass Tahoe festival will feature over 20 bluegrass and roots artists on three heated indoor stages and one outdoor main stage. Patrons can also expect to taste beers from 20+ local/regional craft breweries daily from 2-5pm. The festival returns to Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows on March 29-31, 2019 with headliners Greensky Bluegrass, Trampled by Turtles, Leftover Salmon and Sam Bush.

"From the moment we arrived in Tahoe, we felt the magnetism of this special piece of earth. The alchemy was abundantly clear in the way that bluegrass, the High Sierra, Lake Tahoe, spirited locals and an amphitheater of trees would create magic. It’s an absolute honor to celebrate five years in Squaw Valley and we look forward to turning it up just a notch in honor of this special gathering" said Scotty Stoughton, founder at WinterWonderGrass.

In part of the festival, all patrons are invited to join Horseshoes & Hand Grenades on Thursday, March 28 from 2-5p in the Plaza at Squaw for a free performance. A satellite box office location will open during this time, as well as a limited-offer merchandise tent. Thursday evening, patrons are invited to the annual Tram to Table dinner, presented by the Bluegrass Situation and Protect our Winters. This event is ticketed and will feature music from members of Elephant Revival, Leftover Salmon and Fruition, as well conversation with our partners at Protect our Winters. Alongside two full sets of music, patrons can expect music on the tram, a family style seated dinner, passed appetizers and complimentary tastings from our beer, cider, wine and whiskey partners.

The festival itself kicks off Friday afternoon at 2pm and runs through Sunday night at 10pm. All attendees have access to over 20 breweries daily, where each brewery will be sampling their finest products. The festival site is broken out into three heated beer halls (each with a stage) and one main outdoor stage. The tent stages run bands concurrently, with the main stage schedule at opposite times. The full music schedule can be found at https://winterwondergrass.com/ca-schedule/ and features sets by Greensky Bluegrass, Trampled by Turtles, Leftover Salmon, Sam Bush, Billy Strings and many more, including first time WinterWonderGrass artists ALO, Upstate and a special WinterWonderWomen set featuring the women of the festival.

In addition to music and beer, WinterWonderGrass proudly welcomes kids under 12 years old free of charge. A designated Kids Zone is available daily as well and is fully equipped with arts and crafts, puzzles, coloring, artists, etc.

Tram to Table and festival single day tickets, as well as 3-day GA & VIP ticket options are still available, but limited. Tickets may be purchased here.

The WinterWonderGrass Grass After Dark legacy has manifested through our attendees’ experiences of their favorite bands, bearing witness to iconic, true-to-WonderGrass moments in the most intimate of settings. With that, we're proud to present the 5th installment of our late night, Grass After Dark series, featuring sets by Leftover Salmon, Fruition, the Travelin McCourys (who are recent Grammy Award winners) and many more. Tickets are limited, but some remain available and can be found here.

SUSTAINABILITY

WinterWonderGrass is committed to leaving host communities in better shape than we found them. The festival works closely with organizations that allow it to thrive in that capacity. Waste-Free Earth is a full-service sustainability company that partners with WinterWonderGrass and offers a broad range of services, including sustainability direction for events. Waste-Free Earth Founder and WinterWonderGrass Director of Sustainability, Marina McCoy, said, “We pride ourselves on being free of single-use and plastics as much as possible, serving food and drinks only on reusable or 100% compostable flatware, and we educate attendees on how to identify compostable, recyclable and landfill items. Because of all of this effort, on average we divert 80-90% of our waste to recycling rather than landfills each year."

[NEW THIS YEAR] WINTERWONDERBUS

On Monday of next week, 3/11, WinterWonderGrass will be launching the addition of a free nightly shuttle. This service was a direct response to fan-provided feedback regarding local transportation. The WinterWonderBus will depart hourly from the Clock Tower at Squaw beginning at 9:30pm, with the last bus leaving at 1:30am following Grass After Dark curfew. Two routes will be offered including one from Squaw to the Truckee Bus Depot and the other from Squaw to the Tahoe City Transit Center. The festival is encouraging patrons to utilize the local TART bus for their inbound travels to Squaw, as parking is limited.

WonderGrass Presents, the organizers behind WinterWonderGrass, announces the lineup for 2020’s iteration of Campout For The Cause, taking place May 29th - 31st at The Meadows in Buena Vista, CO. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, March 3rd at 10 AM MT and will be available at: campoutforthecause.org.

“It's hard to believe that this is the 12th annual gathering of what ultimately inspired WinterWonderGrass,” reflects festival founder, Scotty Stoughton. “Combining the elements essential in nurturing and reigniting our spirits is core to Campout—the river, family, open spaces, towering peaks, sweet music, yoga, meditation, conversation and generally enjoying the freedom of the huge meadows. It's never been about who is playing, it's more about knowing you'll see your friends again with time to slowly and simply reconnect."

A festival founded for those seeking to connect, give back, practice yoga, play and camp will be treated to music by headliners The California Honeydrops (x3), Drew Emmitt, Lindsay Lou and Daniel Rodriguez. Additional performance will be provided by Rapidgrass, Grant Farm, Tierro Band, Mama Magnolia, We Dream Dawn, WinterWonderWomen, The Sea Stars, Pickin’ On The Dead, Wood Belly, Boot Gun, WhipPoorWill, Jackie And The Racket, Tiffany Christopher and High Country Hustle. Finally, joining the lineup for the 12th time is Campout host band, Bonfire Dub, featuring the music of festival founder and promoter, Scotty Stoughton.

Proceeds from every ticket sold will benefit the annual cause, Emmy’s Friends, which was established in 2017 as a way to designate funds to Emery Welle—a 2-year-old from Red Cliff, CO who was diagnosed at 5 months old with a rare childhood cancer called embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma. Evolving over the years, Emmy’s Friends has become an official grassroots, non-profit organization benefiting young patients facing severe illnesses and their families.

As Campout tradition dictates, it’s all about the camping for this three-day event. The grounds at The Meadows are comprised of 200+ acres of private, shaded creekside with flat grounds which overlook the majestic peaks of the Collegiate range. Tall stately trees frame the open fields and a winding river flows lazily along one side of the property. Attendees will have the option to camp at The Meadows’ shaded creekside walk-in site near the Main Stage, pond side camping near the festival’s yoga space, or in the designated family or car camping areas. RV camping options are also available and RV parking is located in the main field or last year’s new hillside location.

A limited quantity of reserved camping will be available for $10 per person at on sale, with general camping included in the ticket price. Festival admission also includes access to the daily yoga and wellness offerings, plus access to all three days of the music festival.

Limited early bird tickets, including preferred camping spaces, to Campout For The Cause are available on Tuesday, March 3rd at 10 AM MT. For tickets and more information, please visit campoutforthecause.org.

Stay tuned this year’s yoga partners, yoga class offerings and additional wellness program schedule of events.

Rising Americana singer Danny Burns is back with his brand new single, “Many Moons Ago.” Serving as the first taste from the Irish-born hitmaker’s upcoming sophomore project slated for release in early 2021, the track features Grammy-winning singer Sarah Jarosz on vocals as well as octave mandolin. As previously announced, the record will be released via Bonfire Music Group, who will handle marketing and distribution. Fans can download the haunting ballad HERE.

“‘Many Moons Ago’ took years to get the recording stages just right,” says Burns. “I couldn’t have been happier to work with the brilliant and talented Sarah Jarosz on this track. I was delighted and grateful to have her lend her veracity.”

“Many Moons Ago” picks up right where Burns’ critically-acclaimed debut North Country left off. With its edgy production and haunting melodies, the single is a perfect fit for fall, as the seasons begin to change. The singer took his musical talents to new highs, serving as the writer for the song, along with producing the recording at Galt Line Studio in Nashville, Tenn. To celebrate the release, Burns is also excited to reveal a special visualizer video for fans to watch, listen and feel the vibes from the epic track. Watch it HERE.

Burns burst onto the national scene with the release of his early 2019 debut album North Country. Two decades before releasing the project, Burns kicked off his career as a traveling Folk singer, logging shows on both sides of the Atlantic. He's been on the road ever since, sharpening a sound that mixes the folk traditions of his native Ireland with diverse American influences. The collection turned many heads, securing praise and coverage in top publications like Rolling Stone, CMT, American Songwriter, Billboard, No Depression and more. The star-studded collection saw Burns teaming with top artists like Dan Tyminski, Tift Merritt, Holly Williams, Mindy Smith, Cara Dillon, Tim O’Brien, Critter Fuqua and Chessboxer. North Country was accompanied by a major North American tour, which saw Burns performing at select cities in the United States including New York City, Washington DC, Boston, New Orleans, Nashville, Philadelphia and more.

Today, on National First Responders Day, the teams behind the WinterWonderGrass Music & Brew Festival and the Mishawaka Amphitheater (the Mish) announce a benefit concert to aid regional wildfire relief efforts on Friday, November 13 at the Mish.

The concert, billed as “Gratitude - A Benefit for the Poudre and Rist Canyon Volunteer Firefighters” will feature sets of music by the WWG All-Stars featuring Jeremy Garrett (The Infamous Stringdusters), Andy Thorn (Leftover Salmon) and Tyler Grant & Adrian Engfer (The Grant Farm).

"I am thrilled to be a part of this all-star cast, bringing you some music and partnering up with local firefighter relief,” shared Jeremy Garret. “I have gained first-hand experience this summer with these very large fires, having been evacuated for weeks now from the Cameron Peak Fire, as well as having seen my neighbor’s house literally burn down. Make plans to be with us as we point towards local relief as well as bringing you fire music, as we all know how to do as best we can!”

As reported nationally, the Cameron Peak and East Troublesome fires are the first and second wildfires to burn in Colorado state history, burning at +208,000 and 192,000 acres respectively. “We have put a lot of extra miles on our vehicles patrolling the area ahead of the fire front and putting out spot fires,” shared Hugh Collins, Poudre Canyon Fire District Fire Chief. “[We’re] mopping up hot spots in the black, and otherwise supporting the fire crews.  We have used a 6-month supply of fuel in 2 months, and a year's supply of foam concentrate.”

The event producers have put forward a fundraising goal via GoFundMe of $50,000, where all proceeds are intended for the Poudre and Rist Canyon Volunteer Firefighters.

Dani Grant, Owner at the Mish, went on to say, “As our fire departments become depleted of material goods and emotional resources and our neighbors’ resolve wears thin, it is my hope we can provide significant funding to resolve the financial deficits and provide cheer to uplift our community and 1st responders by publicly honoring their incredible work and celebrating their achievements in the face of such overwhelming adversity. It's time to show our gratitude with our support and love, Mishawaka and WWG want to provide the platform.”

Tickets and information, including venue COVID-19 protocol and seating details may be found here.

Tue, 11/10/2020 - 9:20 am

Today the team at Bonfire Entertainment and promoters of the WinterWonderGrass Music & Brew Festival have announced the postponement of the annual Colorado festival in Steamboat Springs. The decision comes amidst the need to take abundant precautionary measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For 2022, limited WinterWonderGrass pre sale tickets will go on sale this winter, which will include access to an intimate celebration once public gatherings are back in the mainstream.

“The partnership between WinterWonderGrass and Steamboat Ski Resort has been and will continue to be a benefit to our entire community,” shared Rob Perlman, President/COO Steamboat Resort. “While it is disappointing to have to postpone this year’s event; given the circumstances, we are hopeful that WWG fans understand this difficult decision and we can all look forward to 2022 and beyond.”

WinterWonderGrass is excited to share its 2022 dates, to be held at Steamboat Resort. Those dates are February 25-27, 2022.

“The health and wellness of our community will always be the driving force behind any decision we make, and although we all need our musical medicine more than ever, we have received no indication that large gatherings in Colorado will be approved by this February,” shared Scotty Stoughton, festival founder. “We are working in conjunction with our partners at Steamboat Resort and the local community at large to be ready to produce a smaller event if the opportunity to safely gather opens up. By making this call, we can continue to dive into other musical business possibilities that keep the team working, the creativity flowing and the lights on. Don’t worry, we plan to be in Steamboat for a very very long time!”

And while the tentpole festival will not be happening, there has been quite a bit of movement at Bonfire Entertainment HQ. The team, immediately following the postponement of the 2020 WWG Tahoe festival, got to work and expanded out deeper into the wilderness with the announcement of the RiverWonderGrass Expedition series, a multi-day, fully-immersive raft trip through Dinosaur National Monument in partnership with Adrift Dinosaur.

Additionally, WinterWonderGrass will be airing Episode 4 of its WWG TV series this fall, is co-presenting a Colorado Wildfire Relief Benefit concert featuring Andy Thorn, Jeremy Garrett, Tyler Grant and Adrian Engfer at the Mishawaka Amphitheater on Friday, November 13, is supporting the annual Friends of the Yampa Benefit on November 21 in Steamboat and has already announced and gone on sale with its 2021 RiverWonderGrass series, that will feature members of the California Honeydrops, Andy Thorn, Daniel Rodriguez, Lindsay Lou, Bridget Law and more.

The festival will again take place at its traditional California home of Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows in North Lake Tahoe.

As a continued testament to the strength of the WinterWonderGrass community and the relationships with artists and their teams, the festival is extremely pleased to confirm that all but one act from the 2020 lineup will fully return in April of 2022. The festival will be anchored by a two-set Billy Strings headlining Sunday night performance, and will once again welcome the likes of The Infamous Stringdusters, Keller and the Keels, Peter Rowan, Fruition, The War and Treaty, Brothers Comatose, The Lil Smokies, Lindsay Lou, Pickin on the Dead and many more. WinterWonderGrass will be making a special announcement of the third and final headliner this year to replace The Devil Makes Three, at this time they are not confirming any future dates.

“I humbly wish to express the deep gratitude I, and the WWG Team have for the endless support of the Resort and the Community, shared festival founder, Scotty Stoughton. "Especially everyone hanging on to their tickets and riding the wave with us. Your investment into the future of WWG and kind notes of support have been a bright spot through these troubled times. Since most tickets are already sold and with the huge expected demand for 2022 tickets, I encourage friends and fans to hop on board for 2022. However, know that at any time, we will work with you to honor a refund.”

Along with the announcement of this postponement, WinterWonderGrass has presented current festival ticket holders, and those without tickets that are interested in attending in 2022, with a handful of options. Those details are as follows:

All current single-day, 3-day and VIP festival tickets will be honored in April 2022. No action is required for those who want to roll over.

It feels so strange to be alone this weekend, when for the past nine years the WWG family of over 100 team members descended on Steamboat, and previously The Vail Valley for two weeks to build, produce and clean up the annual festival," shared Scott Stoughton, festival founder. "At least we can revel in the memories through a new episode of WWG TV and the announcement of Trampled by Turtles as our first 2022 headliner!

And while those accustomed to attending WinterWonderGrass Colorado, historically held on this weekend, continue to be riding out the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival will be airing episode 5 of its WWG TV series, made available exclusively on YouTube here: youtube.com/winterwondergrass

This episode of WWG TV will feature selections by past WinterWonderGrass artists including Trampled by Turtles, Greensky Bluegrass, Billy Strings, the Travelin’ McCourys, Andy Thorn/Andy Hall/Tyler Grant/Daniel Rodriguez (from RiverWonderGrass), Tyler Grant and Lindsay Lou (from RiverWonderGrass) and Horseshoes and Hand Grenades. These single-day trips will be limited to 25 people per, and will feature music by the likes of Tyler Grant, Pickin on the Dead, Adam Greuel (Horseshoes and Hand Grenades), a Yarmony Float, Buffalo Commons, the Sweet Lillies and more. “The inspiration and influence the upper Colorado River basin has bestowed upon my life is immeasurable. The days of living in a teepee above State Bridge, and managing the musical program starting in the late 90’s, led to the creation of WinterWonderGrass, Bonfire Entertainment, and now RiverWonderGrass.” shared festival founder, Scotty Stoughton.

“Those days saw travelers from all over converging Sunday afternoon at what was once a Lodge. River runners, bikers, hunters, ski bums, ranchers, hippies, yuppies, fisherman and all characters in between would come together and get down dancing under the stars. We’re excited to bring back that energy!”

More information on WinterWonderGrass will be released in the coming months.

Fresh off the heels of a sold out Renewal, the Bonfire Entertainment team is excited to bring things home with this season’s iteration of Caravan to WinterWonderGrass. The show will take place this Sunday, October 10 from 2:00 - 7:00 PM at the Snowbowl in Steamboat, and will feature music by Bonfire Dub and Buffalo Commons.

It feels so good to be producing shows again, it’s really the only place where I truly feel comfortable. Skipping WinterWonderGrass Steamboat last year was seriously depressing, but the light at the end of the tunnel is approaching and we are grateful to be back. I just love these Caravan events as we get to hang out with the community and have a little fun!

The seeds of WinterWonderGrass were planted back in 1993, as founder Scotty Stoughton followed the band, The Grateful Dead on the West and East Coasts. His “Dead-Head” experience as a fan, hand drummer and grilled cheese salesmen combined with years in Colorado as an event producer and performer gave him the inspiration and vision to launch an event focused on community.

Stoughton notes: “The intention behind WinterWonderGrass and all our Bonfire Entertainment events is to deliver a mindful, clean and comforting fan experience. First and foremost, we create this for the people, the communities, and our artists. We offer to host bands in town for multiple days in order to allow them to soak up the magic of Steamboat and give a little reprieve from road life. WWG is itself a community; our attendees share our passion for protecting the environment, tasty craft brew, authentic music, and collective kindness. We cannot wait to get back for the 10 year anniversary!”

The first annual WinterWonderGrass kicked off at The Crazy Mountain Brewery, Edwards Colorado in 2013. As the festival grew, it moved on to Avon and eventually found its perfect fit and permanent home in Steamboat Springs.

In 2015, the popularity of the festival allowed it to grow beyond the borders of Colorado, and a second event was born. Many fans now take part in both WinterWonderGrass events, first Steamboat, Colorado and then to the majesty of Lake Tahoe, California just one month later.

Colorado Reggae Rock band, Bonfire Dub, releases a long anticipated new single “Never Settle” – the first of more to come. They are celebrating with tour dates including a keynote speech by Scotty Stoughton, band frontman.

Never Settle

The release of “Never Settle” comes highly anticipated, as Bonfire Dub has been performing the song for some time now. They are finally ready to officially record and release it.

“The original inspiration came from meeting my wife. It took me a long time to find my human, and I was tempted many times in the past to settle down,” Bonfire Dub frontman Scotty Stoughton says. Upbeat, tender, and liberating, “Never Settle” offers an anthem to love, freedom, and a dedication to your dreams.

“Like all the pursuits in my life, I always focus on staying intentional and never stopping before I realize my dream. This song keeps me grounded and believing in the dream, finding success in failure, and staying the course. It is usually much easier to settle. You are usually pressured into settling, so in this song, I attempt to remind myself and my community to Never Settle!” - Scotty Stoughton

Colorado Tour

In between announcing the 11th Season of WinterWonderGrass Steamboat, and producing Renewal with Billy Strings at The Meadows in Buena Vista, Bonfire Entertainment founder and Bonfire Dub frontman, Scotty Stoughton, will take some time with his band mates to do the thing that fuels his energy for these professional, and often energetically taxing, endeavors: play music.

Bonfire Dub will play a free show at Snow Bowl Steamboat’s Summer Music Fest on Wednesday, September 6th from 6:30 - 9:30 pm, celebrating the release of their new single “Never Settle.” Food, music, drinks, dogs, and all ages welcome!

On September 14, Bonfire Dub will play a free show at The Lariat, in Buena Vista, where the following weekend Stoughton will switch hats as he produces the Billy Strings Renewal Festival at the Cottonwood Meadows.

Stoughton will attend the Outdoor Industry Summit in Leadville on September 15, hosted by The Colorado Central Mountain Small Business Development Center (CMSBDC) as one of two keynote speakers. The Summit will revolve around sustainability and encouraging responsible tourism in Central Colorado. Stoughton’s speech will identify the bond between humanity and nature, as well as offer insights on how to preserve it for future generations. Bonfire Dub will also perform during the Summit’s final event, the freight train afterparty.

Sweet and Simple

Bonfire Dub plays a powerful, yet sweet and simple blend of chilled out reggae rock. A medley of original songs with rich melodies, featuring downtempo, acoustic laced and electric driven reggae, folk and dub. Lead vocalist and lyricist, Scotty Stoughton is inspired by eastern philosophy, indigenous struggles, political injustice, international relief efforts and a deep respect for the soul of love and the balance of nature, reflected in the songs.

Stoughton is the lead vocalist, lyricist and acoustic guitar player for Bonfire Dub, with Rodney James Coquia on electric guitar, Jeff Armistead on the keyboard, Mark Levy on percussion, and Trevor Noel Gagstetter on bass.
