Cleveland, OH's Tropidelic dropped their new album, 'Heavy Is The Head', their first for Pepper's LAW Records, today, November 10. Featuring 10 tracks of the band's signature mix of reggae, hip-hop and high energy funk, the album is available for pre-order, which includes an instant download of the song "Hey Now."

Frontman Matthew Roads says, "A lot of our songs are upbeat and funky. It's very eclectic, which is what all of our albums have been, but this one even more so. We combined our efforts more than we ever have in the past for this record. The album features songs written by several members. We did more refining and filtering on this record than on any other in the past."

He adds, “The album title is a direct reflection of the sacrifices, struggle and pain endured en route to the top, or when you reach the top of whatever it is you’re after.”

Having played and toured with acts such as Slightly Stoopid, 311, Pepper, Sugar Ray, Dirty Heads, The Wailers, Flobots, Passafire, Ballyhoo!, and many more, these seasoned road dogs plan to stay on tour in support of the new record, focusing on headlining shows and festival dates. The band will be out supporting Badfish in February, with additional gigs to be announced soon.

Ryan Hamilton & The Harlequin Ghosts will release their new album 'Nowhere To Go But Everywhere' on September 18th via Wicked Cool Records. The album's first single "Jesus and John Lennon,"(one of two co-writes on the album with Steven Van Zandt) is now streaming everywhere.

Mento Buru is a 7-piece band from Bakersfield, CA that combines an energetic blend of Latin alternative, Jamaican SKA and reggae sounds. Now, the band is excited to announce the release of, “East Bakersfield Christmas,” their first-ever six (6) song ep of reimagined holiday classics. Titled in honor of the historic and culturally diverse neighborhood where the group formed and still resides, the ep is a sonic reflection of the culturally rich area that also boasts its own colorful musical history.

“When you watch the video, you’ll see a lot of people smiling. Assertion, the new project of musician William Goldsmith, is unveiling "Supervised Suffering," the first single off of the upcoming debut album 'Intermission,' set for release on April 9 via Spartan Records.

It’s been an amazing 30 years for Bert, Brad, Dickie, and Jon. Making records, touring and influencing dozens of bands that now worship at the altar of The Ziggens has been their passion. Harmony singing, laughter, and pure high volume fun describe their one-of-a-kind live show.

Seattle-based singer/songwriter/classically-trained cellist and illustrator Jeremiah Moon has released a companion music video for his latest single "Kinds Of Light," off his forthcoming debut EP 'Sputnik' to be released via Enci Records (The Joy Formidable, Beach Goons, Fences).

Jeremiah says, "(Kinds of Light) is about opposing selves, the way relationships with other people compel us to reckon with our own identity, the way our stories gradually become histories, and the things we choose - or don't choose - to carry with us. The underlying thread, like all 5 songs on the EP, is connection between people - the ways that we try to understand each other, and the ways we change each others' orbits."

The tracks that make up the 'Sputnik' EP were recorded with friend and producer Adam Black in a remote cabin in Florence, OR. He says, "We laid down the main tracks during this time and pieced together the rest of the EP and arrangements over the next couple of years."

Moon's music bears the mark of the musicians that inspired it, channeling the energy of a diverse list of influences that range from Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Thom Yorke, Blake Mills, Sufjan Stevens, Claude Debussy, and Nick Cave, to Mahler, Dvorak, Stravinsky, Ravel, and the poetry of Christian Wiman, all while simultaneously carving its own path.

The son of a classically trained violinist mother, Moon would start taking cello lessons at age 7, playing music (solo, chamber music, and orchestra) all through high school.

After graduating, Moon studied cello performance at Boston University. He recalls, "I started writing my first songs when I was home on summer vacations."

In 2013, Jeremiah moved to Seattle and started accompanying guitarists for live shows and recording sessions, as well as working on his illustration skills and building a portfolio of his work. He says, "I started seriously working on songwriting in 2018 after being challenged by a friend to take myself more seriously as an artist. The 5 songs on my EP were a direct result of the momentum from this burst of inspiration."

While known to many as the lead vocalist, bass player, and principal songwriter on Spirit's fifth album, 1972's 'Feedback', Staehely went on to enjoy a lengthy career in bands like the Staehely Brothers, and The Nick Gravenites / John Cipollina Band, while also writing songs for the likes of Keith Moon, Bobbie Gentry, Patti Dahlstrom, Nick Gravenites, John Cipollina, Marty Balin, Peter Cox and Hodges, James & Smith and more. Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Ryan Hamilton and his band were booked to play multiple UK festivals during the summer of 2020, among them Maverick festival (Americana) and LeeFest, where they were fourth on a bill headlined by Brit-rockers Ash. Then, of course, the world ground to a COVID induced halt...

During 2021, with touring still off the agenda owing to the pandemic, Ryan has been releasing a new track a month via Wicked Cool for his project ‘1221’. Collaboration has been the abiding theme, with artists & friends such as Bob Schneider and Chuck Prophet offering up previously unreleased original songs for the record. Nestled among originals of his own, '1221 also features a smattering of choice covers where Ryan does his very own take on songs by the Spin Doctors (How Could You Want Him...), Catherine Wheel (Satellite) and the Refreshments (Banditos).

Working with go-to producer Dave Draper, the singles came together in pandemic isolation with Ryan recording at his home studio in Texas and Dave sprinkling his magic from the U.K.

The Point Break Festival, an all-new two-day music festival, today announced Sublime and Rebelution will headline the event coming to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront June 1-2, 2024. Featuring more than 20 bands throughout the weekend, the first-time festival will take place at 5th Street on the beach. As part of a limited run of tour stops in 2024, the perennial alternative rock radio outfit Sublime will take the stage on Saturday, June 1, with new lead singer Jakob Nowell, the son of the beloved original lead singer Bradley Nowell, alongside founding members Bud Gaugh (drums) and Eric Wilson (bass). The Grammy-nominated band Rebelution, best known for their soulful modern reggae, mixed with pop hooks, alt-rock grit, and hip-hop grooves, will anchor Sunday’s stacked line-up.

The inaugural event will also feature performances by Wiz Khalifa, Stephen Marley, Steel Pulse, Pepper, Tribal Seeds, Fortunate Youth, Hirie, The Expendables, Bumpin Uglies, Denm, Tropidelic, Artikal Sound System, Ballyhoo, Passafire, REGLDGRN, Kash’d Out, Joe Samba, The Supervillians, Of Good Nature, Quasi Kings, Cultivated Minds, and Ganja Cat.

Fronted by renowned musician, guitar historian, and author Andy Babiuk (author of Beatles Gear, Rolling Stones Gear), The Chesterfield Kings have once again tapped into their vintage rock 'n' roll roots, bringing an electrifying sound full of timeless energy. The album was recorded at Fab Gear Studios in Rochester, NY, and produced by legendary producer Ed Stasium (Ramones, Talking Heads, The Smithereens), who lent his magic touch to this vibrant collection of songs.

We're Still All The Same was recorded using over 50 vintage guitars and a massive array of vintage amps and keyboards, all from Babiuk’s extensive collection. The result? A rich and powerful blend of classic rock tones with a modern edge that showcases The Chesterfield Kings’ enduring love for vintage sound.

Babiuk shared his thoughts on the creative process: “When we set out writing the songs for the new album, we stayed true to our roots and what people know us for. Our producer Ed Stasium came to Rochester, and we recorded 20 new songs in August 2023. It was a blast working with Ed, pulling out a ton of vintage guitars, amps, keyboards, and other odd instruments. Ed took the tracks back to his studio in California and did an amazing job mixing the LP, including mixing it in the new ATMOS format.”

He added, “The title We're Still All The Same comes from a track on the album that’s a social statement about people and humanity. It’s about how, despite our differences in religion, politics, or ideologies, in the grand scheme of things, we are all the same. We’re all just a speck of dust in the universe, and we should appreciate that we’re alive and human.”

On April 1, 1995, an unforgettable celebration of surf music history took place at the iconic Lighthouse Café in Hermosa Beach. Now, for the first time, this remarkable event will be available on vinyl, CD and digital, for fans around the world to experience. Legends of Surf Guitar captures a pivotal moment when original surf pioneers and revivalists joined forces to celebrate the music that defined a generation.

In the late 1970s and early '80s, a new wave of surf instrumental revival bands — including Jon & The Nightriders, The Surf Raiders, The Malibooz, and others — reignited interest in the genre, setting the stage for events like this. Building on the momentum from films like Pulp Fiction and a surge of surf-centric radio shows, producer/radio host Les Perry and surf legend Paul Johnson organized the Lighthouse Surf Band Reunion, creating a once-in-a-lifetime musical homecoming.

The event brought together original players from the 1960s and the 1980s revival scene, including legendary names such as The Chantays, The Surfaris, Davie Allan & The Arrows, and special guests like Bob Dalley of The Surf Raiders and Bob Demmon of The Astronauts. Supporting the performers was a stellar backline featuring Don Murray (The Crossfires, The Turtles), Pete Curry (The Halibuts, Los Straitjackets), and John Blair (Jon & The Nightriders), who also co-produced the release alongside renowned engineer Mark Linett (The Beach Boys, Los Lobos, Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Captured live, Legends of Surf Guitar offers a vibrant, reverb-soaked journey through surf classics like "Mr. Moto," "Wipe Out," and "Pipeline," as well as newer favorites from the genre’s revival era. The energy in the packed Lighthouse Café was electric, with dancers filling every inch of the floor and smiles all around — a scene lovingly recalled by special guest Elliot Easton of The Cars, who attended and contributed to the day's recordings.

John Blair (Legends of Surf Guitar co-producer, surf music historian, and author of The Illustrated Discography of Surf Music, 1961–1965) — says, "This recording captures a rare moment when the pioneers and the new generation of surf musicians came together under one roof — a celebration of the music’s past, present, and future, all at a legendary venue just steps from the ocean."

Co-producer and three time Grammy winner Mark Linett, recalls, "I’ve loved surf music ever since hearing 'Wipeout' and 'Pipeline' as a teenager in New York. When I heard about the 1995 Lighthouse show, I knew I had to capture it. Using one of the first digital 8-track recorders — with help from my friend Elliott Easton of The Cars — we recorded a great day of reverb-soaked music in Hermosa Beach. Many of the players are sadly no longer with us, but thanks to surf historian and co-producer John Blair, this historic gathering is finally getting its day in the sun. I hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait."

The importance of this event is underscored by heartfelt testimonials from music legends:

Legendary garage‐rock revivalists The Chesterfield Kings return with their explosive new single “Your Strange Love,” out now via Wicked Cool Records on limited‐edition green vinyl. Co‐written by founding King Andy Babiuk and Steven Van Zandt, the track marks another powerful collaboration between longtime friends and rock-’n’-roll purists. The single’s flip side is a cover of The Beatles’ “It’s Only Love”—the band’s first Beatles cover in their decades-long career.

“I always enjoy writing songs with Steven,” says Babiuk. “I had this idea for ‘Your Strange Love,’ and Stevie took the lyrics to a whole different level with a Venus in Furs vibe. He even had us add a tambura to give the song a more mystic feel. Stevie knows how to get the job done!”

“Your Strange Love” was selected as the Coolest Song in the World on Little Steven’s Underground Garage for the week of June 9—a clear nod to the track’s psychedelic atmosphere, rich textures, and gritty, melodic hooks.

On the flip side, the band tackles the Beatles’ “It’s Only Love” with reverent swagger. “Through the years, we never touched a Beatles song because it felt almost sacrilegious,” admits Babiuk. “But when the label asked us to record some covers, I thought, ‘Fuck it—let’s do a Beatles song.’ After all, they are my favorite band! This is our tribute.”

The new single is pulled from the band’s thunderous LP We’re Still All the Same, produced by Ed Stasium (Ramones, Talking Heads, The Smithereens). The 14-track album features recent singles including “Fly the Astral Plane,” “Electrified” (also co-written with Van Zandt), “Meet You After Midnight,” and the title track.

The LP showcases the band’s signature sonic chemistry, fueled by more than 50 vintage guitars and an arsenal of classic amps and keyboards from Babiuk’s vast collection—delivering a record that’s both timeless and unapologetically raw.
