Saturday at Lockn’ was a beautiful sigh between Phish’s weekend bracketing headlining sets. And the sigh is this: the scene is in a great place now. With the music of the Grateful Dead as a sustaining anchor, jam, electronic music, Americana, and Indie bands are forging a great new collective chapter in authentic, improvised American music.
The last day of Rhythms on the Rio began as Day Two did with a free yoga class from the good folks at YogaDurango. This festival inaugurated yoga last year as a special addition to the line up of great music, good food and brews, and the awe-inspiring Colorado landscape. After yoga, the festival had an open stage, also on days two and three for children’s performances. These were local kids who were part of the music program that Rhythms on the Rio sponsors.
As a day of threatening rain gave way to a breezy night on Chicago's lake front, fans were treated to a perfect night of music under the stars. A co-billing of Counting Crows and Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty made for a night of awesome artists first known for their 90s breakaway music and so much more. Spacial guest K Phillips opened the show.
Today, fiddle player Jeremy Garrett of the Grammy-nominated Infamous Stringdusters announces a new solo album, The RV Sessions 2, scheduled for release on September 27th, 2016. The follow-up to his second solo release, The RV Sessions, The RV Sessions 2 was recorded and (mostly) written during Jeremy’s time on the road - not with The ‘Dusters but during his downtime in the “home” he shares with his wife - a 40-foot RV.
The perennial ARISE Music Festival will return to Loveland, CO for its fifth consecutive year on August 4-6, 2017.
