AMAZON MUSIC CELEBRATES TOM PETTY ON THE LATE MUSIC LEGEND’S BIRTHDAY, SOMEWHERE YOU FEEL FREE AVAILABLE ON PRIME VIDEO

To coincide with what would have been the legendary rock star’s 73rd birthday, Amazon Music is proud to make the critically acclaimed documentary Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free: The Making of Wildflowers available on Prime Video.

Fans can now watch the film in the comfort of their own homes on Prime Video HERE, and Amazon Music customers can see bonus, never-before-seen interview footage exclusively via Amazon Music HERE. The 89-minute documentary directed by Mary Wharton offers a look into the creative mastery and personal life of the universally beloved rock star, capturing the period of 1993-1995 when Petty worked with legendary producer Rick Rubin for the first time. It features rarely seen footage drawn from an archive of 16mm film, alongside interviews with album co-producer and Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell, Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench and many more. The picture also digs deeper into the complete Wildflowers sessions—2020’s critically acclaimed, certified Gold Wildflowers & All The Rest, distributed via Warner Records, which revealed the long anticipated second half of Tom’s autobiographical masterpiece

Amazon Music is also excited to debut “What’s The Matter With Louise,” a brand-new, never-before-heard Amazon Music Original song from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Drawn from the same famed recording sessions that resulted in Petty’s landmark Wildflowers album, the previously unreleased song provides a freewheeling look at one of Petty’s most revered recording sessions. Available exclusively on Amazon Music, the song can be heard HERE. In addition, Amazon Music customers will have access to nearly 15 minutes of unreleased Wildflowers-era footage and additional interview footage, as well as a the never-before-heard track “What’s The Matter With Louise” from the Wildflowers sessions.

The documentary is available alongside a collection of offerings from The Petty Estate to commemorate the late icon’s birthday. A special vinyl reissue of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ acclaimed 2010 album Mojo is also out today. Highly requested by fans, the reissue is available in a limited-edition translucent ruby red double vinyl LP pressing, as well as in immersive Dolby Atmos and Spatial formats; order HERE. Additionally, Petty’s birthday marks the 10th anniversary of the Tom Petty Nation fan club. Fans are invited to attend their annual birthday gathering in Gainesville, FL where SiriusXM’s “Tom Petty Radio” will broadcast onsite at Tom Petty Weekend at Heartwood Soundstage. Fans will also have access to new exclusive items and designs from the newly launched Amazon Official Tom Petty Store HERE.

Further festivities include the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s “Wildflowers” exhibit which opened at The Cade Museum in June and runs through the end of the year.
