Brilliant Corners Of Popular Amusements Announces Fall Showcase

Brilliant Corners of Popular Amusements returns in its third incarnation with an early fall showcase, September 21-23, at the new Riverfront Theater (650 W. Chicago).

Taking a vaudevillian approach, Brilliant Corners unites stylistically disparate forms of entertainment under one tent. This September's three-day event sustains the commitment to bringing together original musical voices from across genres, some of the funniest people in the comedy business, and astounding performance and stunt artists.

The feature event each night will be musical performances. This season's lineup includes John Cale, Bobby Womack, Conor Oberst, Zola Jesus, Van Dyke Parks, and Helado Negro.

On Friday and Saturday nights after the music, the stage will be handed over to comedians such as H. Jon Benjamin, Brian Babylon, Seaton Smith, Brandon Wetherbee, James Fritz, and The Puterbaugh Sisters.

Plus, on Saturday and Sunday afternoons El Circo Cheapo presents its innovative circus show filled with soaring trapeze acrobatics, jugglers, clowns, and more.

Additions to the full schedule of performers will be announced soon. Previous rosters have included Jeff Mangum, Bill Callahan, Shellac, Charles Bradley, School of Seven Bells, A Hawk and A Hacksaw, Sidi Touré, Bomba Estereo, the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, A Lull, El Circo Cheapo Cabaret, Zoppe Family Circus, Bone and Bell, CAVE and more.
