California's Próxima Parada shares new song "Tunnel Through a Mountain" - plus fall tour dates

Today, San Luis Obispo indie-rockers Próxima Parada, just off a hugely successful tour supporting Wild Child, are thrilled to share their new song “Tunnel Through A Mountain.” The band offers a tender and emotional landscape for the track, creating the space needed in a song centered around depression.

“We wrote it while driving east in Colorado on February 18, 2020, says Nick Larson (vocals, keys, guitar). “I was driving the van and Kevin was sitting in the passenger seat with an ukulele, and the lyrics flew out of us as we took in our surroundings. We never spoke about the song’s meaning as we were writing it, but we both tacitly understood. We were sitting with how to overcome obstacles that feel insurmountable, and every ‘I know we can do it again’ is us affirming the support of others.”

The band recorded a demo in one take and around one mic in Big Sur at a friend’s cabin on California’s central coast. The intention was to marinate on the demo recording and decide how to approach recording it in the studio but the band loved the demo so much that they kept it as is and did not end up re-recording it. The only thing added later was a faint organ and synth bass that come in near the end of the song.

Próxima Parada just wrapped a tour supporting Wild Child and will be back out on tour beginning June 24 in San Luis Obispo. This fall they will embark on their largest headlining tour to date making stops at iconic venues across the country.
