Girl Talk's Night Ripper Now Available On Vinyl!
It’s been over three years since the release of Girl Talk’s Night Ripper, the groundbreaking album that ultimately launched Gregg Gillis’ frenzied career and brought him to the attention of so many. Finally, tomorrow, December 8th, Illegal Art is making that record available to the masses for the first time on 180-gram 2 LP vinyl! Just in time for the holidays!
A limited edition 180-gram 2 LP pink vinyl version of Night Ripper will be sold for $100 with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity organization, mycharity: water. The goal is to find at least 50 donors allowing for Illegal Art and Girl Talk to fund a $5,000 well that will provide clean water for a community for 20 years.
Night Ripper vinyl (limited-edition pink and regular version) can be purchased here: http://illegal-art.net/shop#release113

Though Night Ripper was many people’s first introduction to Girl Talk, Gillis had been dedicating himself to creating sample-based music for over six years prior to that album’s release, with each record embracing pop music more and more. The two initial Girl Talk album’s, Secret Diary and Unstoppable, are now being released via a “Pay What You Want” plan on Illegal Art. Unstoppable is available now; Secret Diary will be available on January 5, 2010. Pay What You Want for these Girl Talk releases and more at http://www.illegal-art.net/shop.
Its hard to believe Girl Talk’s last record, Feed The Animals, was just released last year with the pace he’s been keeping and amount Gillis has accomplished since then. Girl Talk has perpetually been on the go since before that album’s release, essentially being on tour for two years straight playing festivals (Coachella, Lollapalooza, Treasure Island, Summer Camp, Monolith, Osheaga, Virgin MobileFree Fest, Wanderlust, Sasquatch, Lollapalooza, All Points West, Detroit Electronic Music Festival and more), shows in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and across Europe, a sold out 5-week tour in 2008, plus multiple mini-tours and shows for colleges across the country almost every week. He’s just finished playing three shows in Mexico, will head to Chicago for New Year’s (a 4,500 capacity show that sold out in less than two weeks!) and then will head down under to Australia and New Zealand for the Big Day Out festival. With the amount of energy he puts into each show, you’d never know how long he’s been on the go. Who knows what Girl Talk will have in store for 2010?!
