Today, Rolling Stone Magazine premiered a live video of Slightly Stoopid performing the Grateful Dead’s “Franklin’s Tower” with the support of special guests Bob Weir and Karl Denson. The track was originally performed during the Live from Roberto’s webcast at Weir’s Tamalpais Research Institute Studios in San Rafael, California earlier this year. Watch the “lively performance” (Rolling Stone) that Weir calls "good clean American FUN!" at http://rol.st/29ZFr4A.

“As a fan of The Dead, and as a musician,” explains Slightly Stoopid’s Miles Doughty, “you have to appreciate the chances The Dead took creatively in their live shows. It’s really amazing to jam with someone like Bob who was one of the musical pioneers of American music." Bandmate Ryan ‘Rymo’ Moran continues, "It was an honor to play Franklin’s Tower with Bob Weir. I grew up in Marin County and the music and culture of The Dead was all around us. My sister would give me hand-me-down bootleg cassette tapes of live Dead. I went to my first shows in high school at the Shoreline Amphitheater. The Dead were a huge influence on my musical path.”

Dead and Company pull into Slightly Stoopid's hometown venue in Chula Vista, CA tonight. And catch Slightly Stoopid as they embark on the second half of their cross-country Return of the Red Eye Summer Tour. The California band then returns this December to Mexico for a sold-out weekend of their annual Closer to the Sun destination festival. A full list of dates is below.
