The Broadberry in Richmond, VA hosted Spafford on Wednesday night for a stellar opener to the 2024 Spring Tour. The first set was full of high energy jams, highlighted by a twenty-seven minute version of "Broken Wing," an original song recently released on the LP Simple Mysteries (2022). Guitarist and vocalist Brian Moss guides this high energy song to the next level with driving solos and euphoric peaks.
Spafford kept the momentum going throughout the night with a captivating three-song second set. The set opened up with a powerhouse rendition of "Windmill," seamlessly transitioned into the Western-inspired anthem "Motel 6." Keyboardist Cory Schechtman showcased his musical prowess with ethereal sounds and spacey tones that enhanced each song selection.
Closing the set on a high note, Spafford treated the audience to the crowd favorite "Leave the Light On" before returning for an encore performance of "Left on the Runway."
