Most strands of American music have an iconic instrument. Horns for jazz, banjos for bluegrass, and electric guitars for rock and roll, but few invoke the immediate recognition as the accordion found in the wildly unique music of Louisiana Cajuns. And few know the instrument as intimately as world-renowned accordion player, builder, and author, Marc Savoy. Upon seeing a Louisiana-handmade diatonic accordion for the first time in 1957, a teenage Marc Savoy began his life quest: to build the perfect Cajun accordion.

Award-winning Bluegrass artist Rick Faris is celebrating the release his sophomore Dark Shadow Recording album The Next Mountain. Produced by Dark Shadow Recording label head Stephen Mougin, the 12-track record includes a cast of astounding pickers and singers including Sam Bush, Ronnie Bowman, Becky Buller,  Ronnie McCoury and more.

Jesse Cook — the multi-Platinum/Gold award-winning and internationally acclaimed producer, composer, and guitarist — has announced the first leg of his U.S. “Tempest II” tour. Launching in Spokane, WA on January 19 at Bing Crosby Theater and spanning 28-dates, the trek will take Cook and his band through the West Coast and into the Midwest. Earlier last year, in the beginnings of shelter-in-place orders and mask mandates, The Steel Wheels’ primary songwriter Trent Wagler began crowdsourcing personal experiences of fans and forging them into songs. The project quickly became an avenue for fans of the band to commission works and send musical greetings to their loved ones as well, and the initiative sparked a surprisingly impactful and intimate songwriting process. Eventually, the band released a batch of their new tunes as a full-length record, Everyone A Song, Vol.

Don McLean’s beloved hit “American Pie,” makes its way into the new AppleTV+ sci-fi movie Finch starring Tony and Golden Globe Award winner Tom Hanks. Hanks plays “Finch Weinberg,” a robotics engineer who builds an AI sidekick to take care of his companion canine after he’s gone. Finch’s relatable and vulnerable side is revealed as he sings “American Pie” to himself when he is lonely and while making his way through a dust storm that might lead to his death.
