Antibalas Announce Kickstarter Campaign for Feature Film "Journey Back to the Motherland"

Antibalas have recorded six studio albums, performed over 2,000 shows across five continents -- they have accomplished many goals except for their biggest one. The Brooklyn based Afrobeat group is planning to bring the entire band to Lagos, Nigeria -- the cradle of Afrobeat music -- for their very first performance in Africa.

In order to make this dream a reality, a Kickstarter has been launched in order to properly document the journey, as well as the performance and to eventually share it with all of their fans in the form of a feature film put together by the team responsible for acclaimed documentaries such as "Still Bill" and "Herbie Hancock: Possibilities." In addition to helping cover crew and travel costs, the money raised will also help to get 500 hours of archival footage edited.

The film as a whole will explore the history of Antibalas, the band whose music has always been a voice for justice in America, and will end with the highly anticipated performance in the lead singer Amayo's hometown of Lagos.
