Kyle Hollingsworth’s Hoppy Holidays-now in its third year supporting local non-profit Conscious Alliance-keeps on giving Coloradans what they want. With over thirty breweries pouring their best suds for those peeled away from the couch and college football, jubilant times flourished under the signature Fillmore chandeliers.
An Evening With JJ Grey to benefit Conscious Alliance will take place at Arcana Restaurant in Boulder, CO on Sunday, December 4th at 6:00 p.m.. The event will feature a live, solo acoustic performance by JJ Grey, the frontman of celebrated soulful ensemble JJ Grey & Mofro. Their latest album Ol’ Glory (Provogue Records / Mascot Label Group) garnered praise from The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Garden & Gun, and more.
In the video, JJ - who performs more than 120 dates per year - offers a rare glimpse into his life on the road, while capturing the fierceness and intimacy of his live performance.
"Light a Candle" is an understated, poetic and soulful song where the interplay between rock and R&B is naturally bluesy and gritty. It's also the second single off JJ's new album 'Ol Glory,' which is his first album of originals in two years. See below for a quote from JJ about the song and video.
After having the greatest musical experience of my life for three shows in Chicago at the Dead’s last shows together less than a week before, I did not think it was so possible for that music high to continue, but the lineup and energy of the 2015 All Good Music Festival kept my music fix alive and well. Rolling deep with one of the best crews I have had in a while and an RV led to three days of uninterrupted music from one stage to another.
Celebrated soulful ensemble JJ Grey & Mofro will release their newest recording Ol’ Glory on March 3rd. This album marks their debut on Provogue Records, which is part of the Mascot Label Group. Ol’ Glory contains 12 new songs that feature the deep, soulful blend of blues, rock, folk, funk, gospel, gritty R&B and personal, Southern-inspired narratives that have become synonymous with JJ Grey & Mofro.
I’m searching for phrases to describe Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival. It began as a dark side of the moon, but that was just a phase. As an audience, our hackles were already up, howling at the moon before the weekend ever arrived. Through no fault of the Phases organizers, RatDog had to cancel their appearance. Bobby Weir’s lightening is lazy.
Today, The Ride Festival releases its initial artist lineup for the festival’s 3rd year at Colorado’s breathtaking Telluride Town Park on July 12-13, 2014. If Colorado gets frigidly cold in January and February, with temperatures well below zero, we have great music entertainment to get close in and soak in that body heat. A now decade old tradition in Boulder is cozying up at the Boulder Theater for George Porter Jr. and Kyle Hollingsworth’s Pearl Street AllStars Jam.
