PAPADOSIO--a "must-see act" on the touring and festivals circuits hailed as a "tour-de-force" by THATDROP.COM (7/10/15)--has just revealed the details for their massive fall headlining tour "Extras In A Movie - Act I" in support of their new album, EXTRAS IN A MOVIE, out Friday, October 2. Fanclub presale tickets for the outing are on sale now via http://papadosio.com/tour with regular on-sale launching Friday, July 24 at 10am local time.
"Extras In A Movie - Act I" launches September 29 at the Canopy Club in Urbana, IL and then stops in St. Louis and Lawrence before taking over the Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO for two nights to officially celebrate the album's release: October 2 and 3. From there, PAPADOSIO-with special guests TBA-will hit such cities as Madison, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Athens, Birmingham, and New Orleans before a Halloween show in their hometown of Asheville, NC at the Orange Peel.
The two-month trek will continue on in Richmond, Philadelphia, New York City (11/13 at Irving Plaza), Boston, Burlington, Syracuse, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Detroit, where it wraps November 28 at St. Andrews Hall. Scattered throughout their fall tour are appearances at select U.S. festivals including Phases of the Moon (Ozark, AR), Suwannee Hulaween (Live Oak, FL), the Art Outside Festival (Austin, TX) and more. Other festival appearances still to come this year include Camp Bisco, The Peach Music Festival, Imagine Music Festival, Backwoods Music Festival and Dominican Holidaze. See below for full list of upcoming tour dates.
PAPADOSIO--Anthony Thogmartin (lead vocal, guitar, production), Mike Healy (drums), Rob McConnell (bass, vocals), Billy Brouse (keys, synth, vocals) and Sam Brouse (keys, guitar, vocals)--seamlessly melds progressive rock with psychedelia folk with electronica; and dance music with jam. The Asheville, NC-based five-piece has earned worldwide acclaim for their unpredictable setlists, entrancing improvisations and stunning visuals as a result of their extensive touring schedule and numerous high-profile festival appearances, including Wakarusa, Electric Forest, Sonic Bloom, and many more.
Of their shows, Owen Seely from RVAMAG.COM said, "the live experience was more than I expected. Part electronic, part jamband, part fusion, and 100% their own. Papadosio are certainly a force to be reckoned with" (11/12/12), with Sean Dorsett of SHOWSIGOTO.COM adding, "Papadosio's light show and visuals [were] out of this world!..They have such a unique and positive energy radiating through their sound and presence. They write music that inspires love, happiness, following dreams, and being the change you want to see in the world. It's amazing that these kinds of messages can be transmitted so sincerely through such badass music so seamlessly and apparently effortlessly" (9/16/14).
In addition, Joe from MUSICOBSESSED.COMnoted, "This band has a strong hold on bringing their sound in and out of consciousness, sometimes taking audience members with it, but their ability to provide thorough solos as well as bring songs down to an ambient state, matched with some great lighting, is a formula for an awesome live show. These aesthetics come out in nearly each of their grooves" (9/13/14).
EXTRAS IN A MOVIE, the band's fourth full-length studio album to be self-released, features 16 never-before-heard tracks, written, recorded and produced by the band themselves, thanks in large part to their devoted fanbase and a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign. This new highly anticipated collection follows the 2012 critically acclaimed double-album release To End The Illusion Of Separation (T.E.T.I.O.S.), of which LIVEFORLIVEMUSIC.COM said, "Papadosio's album can be described as danceable yet ambient, overall uplifting, and thoroughly intelligent...T.E.T.I.O.S is successful because of each band member; the individual instruments provide solos creating a unique rock sound over the consistent use of the synthesizers. Furthermore, the harmony provided by the vocalists creates an ambient, positive and uplifting sound on several of the tracks" (Arya Jha, 10/17/12).
