The FoCoMX 2016 lineup is public and promises to showcase Colorado’s rich musical talent. Presented by the Fort Collins Musicians Association (FoCoMA) and sponsored by Odell Brewing Co., the 8th annual FoCoMX weekend boasts 250+ Colorado bands and solo musicians at 25 Downtown Fort Collins venues.

This year’s lineup is filled with even more live music to explore including bands who have made their mark on the Fort Collins’ and Colorado music and recording scene. Many of the festival’s featured bands have exploded onto the national scene, are often touring or are in the studio.

With a wealth of genres, audience draw and strong commitment to their native music scenes these bands show the diversity, relevance and strength of the Fort Collins’ music movement.

2016 Featured Musical Bands:

Featured FoCoMX talented Colorado artists include Dubskin, Musketeer Gripweed, In the Whale, The Patti Fiasco, Brent Cowles, The Holler!, Pandas and People, Nate Cook (of The Yawpers), Shatterproof, and Endless Monster (featuring Karl Alvarez from the Descendents).

This uniquely Fort Collins event brings thousands of music lovers closer to their favorite Colorado bands while exposing them to new music, bringing professional development opportunities to the musicians themselves and entertaining thousands of residents and tourists. The festival celebrates its eighth year of successfully showcasing over a dozen music genres and nearly 300 live performances over the course of two days, while featuring local venues who support live music throughout the year, and furthering FoCoMA’s mission to support the success of local musicians and our vibrant regionally recognized music scene.

  • A weekend wristband provides music enthusiasts with an opportunity to experience Northern Colorado’s extensive variety of live bands from every genre, DJs, and even some comedy shows!
  • FoCoMX.org The FoCoMX 8 website has the comprehensive schedule with all the music lineups for fans to browse, listen to bands and plan their musical weekend. (www.focomx.org) The website features the music lineup, schedules, press information and graphics, volunteer opportunities and information on free industry workshops/panels for local musicians.
  • Over 250 volunteers help make the festival possible and they earn a free festival wristband for their time donation.

Insider picks: (noteworthy performances, especially for locals)

  • The Endless Monster show (featuring Karl Alvarez of the Descendents), at Surfside 7’s new Linden Street location, will entertain and show the depth of national band talent choosing to reside in Fort Collins.
  • Nate Cook, the Yawpers’ frontman, will play a special solo set at The Downtown Artery.
  • Manabi Salsa Band, Mono Verde, and RETRO 80’s Tribute Band as well as some of the most danceable DJs in town will be inviting people to get down on the spacious dance floor of Downtown Fort Collins’ newest dance club Fusion located on Linden Street.
  • FY5 (Finnders and Youngberg),12 Cents for Marvin and ATOMGA among others will play energetic afternoon sets at Odell Brewing’s popular taproom and outdoor beer garden where you can listen to live music while sitting back with a limited edition FoCoMX beer brewed by Odell Brewing Company.
  • FoCoMA’s Peer Awards Lifetime Achievement award winner, Cary Morin, performs his award winning blues originals at Downtown Artery.
  • The Saturday night at Avogadro’s Number brings Fort Collins music legends and some Colorado’s favorite genres together, the lineup including Dave Beegle, Liz Barnez, Rob Drabkin and Blue Grama.
  • KTCL’s popular weekend jockey, Alf, presents DJ Alf’s 45+1, a vinyl­meets­improv set of local artists playing along to hand­picked vinyl recordings at the Whiskey.
  • Fun for the whole family with children’s programming, Colorado Swing Big Band and Fale West African Drumming Collective on Saturday at Everyday Joe's.

Background:

  • FoCoMX started in 2009 as a grassroots experiment in promoting local music.
  • The festival has grown, with an attendance of approximately 5,000 in 2015, garnering national attention and earning FoCoMX the unofficial title of “The Biggest Little Festival in America”.

The Fort Collins Musicians Association’s nonprofit mission is to provide education, support and networking opportunities to the Fort Collins (and surrounding) music community.
