Craft Recordings announces a reissue of Alison Krauss & Union Station’s GRAMMY®-winning Live album. Captured over two nights in 2002, the multi-Platinum-selling title showcases the legendary bluegrass band’s emotive musicianship through songs like “Baby, Now That I’ve Found You,” “When You Say Nothing at All,” “The Lucky One” and the GRAMMY®-winning “Cluck Old Hen,” plus favorites from the bestselling soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou? The 3-LP, 25-track album will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl at QRP with lacquers cut by Matthew Lutthans and presented in a stunning triple gatefold package. The album returns to vinyl on November 21st and is available for pre-order now.

An International Bluegrass Hall of Fame inductee, a recipient of the National Medal of Arts and one of the most decorated artists in GRAMMY history (with 27 wins to date), Alison Krauss has played a pivotal role in popularizing modern bluegrass around the world. The singer, fiddler and producer has received widespread acclaim through high-profile collaborations (including those with Robert Plant), best-selling soundtracks (O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Cold Mountain) and numerous best-selling releases—both as a solo artist and with her longtime band, Alison Krauss & Union Station.

A virtuosic singer and fiddle player, Krauss began her career as a teenager, releasing her debut album, Too Late to Cry, at just 16 years old. Two years later, she introduced Alison Krauss & Union Station with the GRAMMY-nominated Two Highways. The band quickly hit its stride with a trio of best-selling, GRAMMY-winning albums: 1992’s Every Time You Say Goodbye, plus the Gold-certified So Long So Wrong (1997) and 2001’s New Favorite—the latter two of which reached the Country Top 5. By the early 2000s, the ensemble had become one of the most popular groups in modern bluegrass, featuring a powerhouse line-up of Dan Tyminski (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Ron Block (guitar, banjo, vocals) and Barry Bales (acoustic bass), plus Jerry Douglas (Dobro) and Larry Atamanuik (drums).

Alison Krauss & Union Station Live marked the ensemble’s fifth LP and remains their only live release to date. Captured primarily at Louisville’s historic Palace Theatre over two nights in April 2002, the concert highlights the band’s intricate arrangements, rich three-part harmonies and dazzling musicianship. The 25-track setlist culls traditional and original favorites from their catalog, including “The Lucky One” (off New Favorite), “Cluck Old Hen” and “Every Time You Say Goodbye” (both from Every Time You Say Goodbye) and “There Is a Reason” (So Long So Wrong). Also featured are selections from the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack—“I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow” and “Down to the River to Pray” (the latter recorded during an Austin City Limits taping)—along with beloved covers of “Baby, Now That I’ve Found You” (from Krauss’ 1995 compilation Now That I’ve Found You) and “When You Say Nothing at All” (originally released on Keith Whitley: A Tribute Album), which marked the group’s breakthrough single.

Live went on to become a cornerstone in Alison Krauss & Union Station’s catalog, garnering a GRAMMY for Best Bluegrass Album, while “Cluck Old Hen” also earned an award for Best Country Instrumental Performance. The album topped Billboard’s Bluegrass charts, while it broke the Country Top 10 and the Billboard 200’s Top 40. Live was also well received by the press, with the BBC declaring it “an album of superlatives.” Analog Planet raved, “Krauss’s fiddle playing is as fiery and accomplished live as it is in the studio, and her coy vocals, as coolly sexy and intimate in front of a crowd as they are in an isolation booth, rightly drive some audience members absolutely crazy.”

In the years since releasing Live, the members of Alison Krauss & Union Station have remained active, both as a group and through individual pursuits. Together, they have released three more albums, including the GRAMMY-winning Lonely Runs Both Ways (2004), Paper Airplane (2011) and their widely acclaimed eighth studio album, Arcadia, which arrived earlier this year via Down the Road Records. Now joined by guitarist and vocalist Russell Moore, the band—featuring longtime members Ron Block, Barry Bales, Jerry Douglas and Larry Atamanuik—is currently on an extensive tour in support of the long-awaited LP.
