The band took a break from tour and borrowed a friend’s tiny desk and brought it down to Red Hook in Brooklyn to have the Statue of Liberty as a back drop. “New Colossus” is a brand-new song composed by Kellen Asebroek, written to the words of a poem by Emma Lazarus that is inscribed on a plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty. "I was at a local theater in Manhattan a while back, right around the President’s first executive push for travel/immigration bans (and the ensuing backlash and protests.) At the end of the performance (it was a Fireside Mystery Collective live radio taping) a woman delivered an impassioned rendition of The New Colossus. It was the first time I’d heard it in its entirety and it moved me to tears. It garnered a standing ovation and left a lasting impression on me. The next morning, I started trying to figure out a way to put it to music.” - Kellen Asebroek

The performance was captured by placing each of our iPhones in various places (vocals, kick drum, bass, etc) and then Tyler Thompson our drummer combined all of the phone audio into one stereo track. Our FoH TLP (Terry Lapointe) shot the video on another iPhone.
