All Good Now Day Two began without a hitch, despite the threat of inclement weather. While rain did fall in the afternoon, it was far less than predicted, allowing the bands to relax and focus on the music. Tonight’s lineup featured inspired performances by both Goose and Lawrence, among other jam-friendly acts.
The music opened with none other than one-man-band extraordinaire and seasoned All Good alumnus Keller Williams. This time he swapped looping equipment for Keller Williams’ Grateful Gospel, which included Melvin Seals & JGB guitarist John Kadlecik. His knack for Dead covers is well known, and the Chrysalis Stage proved the perfect setting. Dressed as though they were heading to church, the band delivered JGB staple “Run for the Roses” and Reverend Gary Davis' “Samson and Delilah.”
Emerging artist Eggy took over the Chrysalis for their first-ever All Good appearance. Hailing from Connecticut, the quartet blended blues-rock, funk, and prog-rock in finely crafted originals. Guitarist Jake Brownstein was shredding early during a nine-minute “Trixieville.” A mellow funk followed in “A Moment’s Notice,” pivoting quickly into the Rolling Stones’ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” Set-list staple “Shadow” flowed into a nineteen-minute “Beaming,” ending their hour-long set with copious tension and release.
Trail-blazing Daniel Donato and his talented squad, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, seized the reins next at the Chrysalis for their All Good debut. Their infectious fusion of country, psychedelic rock, and funk had fans dancing their hardest of the day. Originals “Luck of the Draw” > “Sugar Leg Rag” brought serious heat.
The high-flying, positive-vibing Pigeons Playing Ping Pong swooped onto the main stage for their second All Good set. The Baltimore, MD-based quartet’s massive crowd turnout testified to their regional pull. They mixed new tunes with beloved staples, launching with the funk-fueled “Dawn a New Day” > “Avalanche.” Fresh debut “Love Trap” followed, and Goose’s Peter Anspach sat in on “Show Me.” A moving “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” dissolved into crowd favorite “Horizon,” complete with disco-ball dancers. Guitarist Greg Ormont closed with a well-received message of peace and optimism.
Edgy jam-rock quintet moe.—in their eighth All Good appearance—took over the Chrysalis Stage next. Alongside classics, they showcased newer material like “Giants,” penned by newcomer keyboardist Nate Wilson, whose jazz and blues-rock touch has revitalized the band’s sound. Guitarists Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey were in rare form, tearing through fan favorites “Downward Facing Dog” and the raging jam sandwich “Spine of a Dog” > “Buster.”
Funk ensemble Lawrence brought their brother-sister chemistry to the main stage for their first All Good set, diving into pop, funk, and R&B. Highlights included covers of the Beatles’ “Get Back” and *NSYNC’s “It’s Gonna Be Me.” Singer Gracie Lawrence, a recent Tony nominee who took a night off from the Broadway show Just in Time, dazzled with powerhouse vocals and stage presence.
Day Two closed with the flaming-hot quartet Goose, appearing at All Good for the first time. Their musical odyssey opened with “SALT,” driven by drummer Cotter Ellis’s dynamic beats. The mood eased into the new tune “One Direction,” flowing into the instrumental section of “SOS” and what may have been the longest “(dawn)” ever. Multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach elevated the tune on clavinet.
“Red Bird” soared for eleven minutes before gliding into the new funk piece “Dustin Hoffman.” Bassist Trevor Weekz laid down thick grooves as the quartet segued seamlessly into Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill.”
A raucous “Dripfield” kicked off set two, guitarist Rick Mitarotonda unleashing face-melting lines. A slow, simmering transition merged into “This Old Sea,” then an energetic up-shift propelled the music into the elusive “Factory Fiction.” The band plunged into Bob Seger’s “Hollywood Nights,” followed by a twenty-minute “fast:slow” that sparked a full-blown disco dance party.
Mid-set, fans spotted what looked like fireworks—but it was a fleet of coordinated drones, forming the script Goose logo and other images above the lawn. The night—and the festival—ended in a rip-roaring return to “Factory Fiction.”
