Americana supergroup The High Hawks, who just wrapped up a run of tour dates with Greensky Bluegrass, continue to tour for their acclaimed sophomore album, Mother Nature's Show. The album continues to rise on the Americana Radio album chart, where it's currently at #11, while the album is now at #1 on the Jamband radio chart. Along with a sold-out Chicago show at the Salt Shed, the two bands ended their run in Madison, WI with a special treat for fans, all joining onstage to perform two John Hartford songs, “Steam Powered Aereoplane” and “Up On The Hill Where They Do the Boogie.”
This is the second release for the group and has been acclaimed by the press and fans. Mother Nature's Show was recorded during a snowy January at Minnesota's famed Pachyderm Studios and it's no wonder adjectives like "cosy" and "warm" keep popping up in the reviews. The song sequence — a musical travelogue — takes the listener down Highway 61, the oft-called “Blues Highway” immortalized by Bob Dylan, that follows the Mississippi River from Minnesota to New Orleans, passing through St. Louis, Memphis and the Mississippi delta.
The songs on Mother Nature's Show represent a variety of musical stylings — from Southern, country and psychedelic rock to honky-tonk and even a ballad and a waltz — with The High Hawks’ sonic cohesiveness claiming each style as their own.
