Today, JAZZ RE:FRESHED OUTERNATIONAL, the international showcasing partnership between Jazz re:freshed and British Underground, announced the lineup for their UK Jazz Showcase at this year’s SXSW, taking place on March 15 at Sellers Underground. The showcase returns to SXSW for its sixth year and marks Jazz re:freshed’s twentieth year nurturing British jazz talent and propelling it onto the global stage.

The lineup features incredible rising British talent including dynamic ensemble performances from collectives Stream Down proclaimed as a fundamental catalyst of London’s flourishing Jazz scene, and Balimaya Project, an 11-piece polyrhythmic horn blazing supergroup who are bridging London’s bustling jazz circuit and the traditional repertoire and folklore of the Mandé peoples of West Africa. The showcase will also feature fast rising star Yazmin Lacey who already counts Questlove amongst her fans of her unique genre bending blend of jazz, neo-soul, electronia and Camilla George, an extraordinary visionary saxophonist, composer, and bandleader, performing music from her celebrated record ‘Ibio Ibio’, a tribute to her tribe the Ibibio people of South Eastern Coastal Nigeria. Additionally, DoomCannon, a celebrated London-based composer, producer & multi-instrumentalist, and Marcus Joseph, an innovative musician and spoken word artist, will make their SXSW live debut.

Now an acclaimed SXSW staple, which has been spotlighted in Rolling Stone Magazine and The New York Times to name a few, the showcase has helped stars including Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia, and Moses Boyd launch their US careers, and produced unique recording projects including their live-stream from the iconic Abbey Road studios for SXSW 2021.
