Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds Set For Two-Night Stand at Red Rocks, September 16-17 — Final Shows of 2025

After a pair of back-to-back sell-outs at Denver’s Mission Ballroom this spring, Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds will cap their 2025 campaign with two special evenings under the sandstone monoliths of Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Wednesday, September 16 and Thursday, September 17. These will be the band’s only remaining appearances this year, bringing the curtain down on a triumphant run that began with the release of Passage Du Desir and the ensuing, coast-to-coast “Why Not?” tour.

To keep tickets in the hands of fans, both concerts will employ the Fair AXS ticket-request system. Registration is open now at axs.com and closes Sunday, June 29 at 10 p.m. MT. Beginning July 7, randomly selected registrants will receive an email invitation to purchase (limit four per order) starting July 8. A very limited public onsale will follow on Friday, July 11 at 10 a.m. MT.

About Johnny Blue Skies

The arrival of Passage Du Desir in 2024 signaled a new chapter for the artist long known as Sturgill Simpson, who—after promising no more than five albums under his given name—now records and performs as Johnny Blue Skies. Co-produced with longtime collaborator David Ferguson and tracked at both Nashville’s Clement House and London’s Abbey Road Studios, the record drew raves from Rolling Stone (“brilliant”) and GQ (“instant classic”), while reaffirming Simpson’s restless creative spirit.

Onstage, Blue Skies leads The Dark Clouds—Kevin Black (bass), Robbie Crowell (keys), Laur Joamets (guitar) and Miles Miller (drums)—through marathon, three-hour explorations that blur the borders of country, rock, soul and psychedelia. Since returning to the road last fall, the group has headlined iconic venues from Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre to New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, topped the bills at Outside Lands and Austin City Limits, and reminded audiences that, as the band likes to say, “If you’re on time, you’re late.”
