Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician Mary Chapin Carpenter’s “One Night Lonely” concert special will make its broadcast debut across PBS stations beginning tomorrow, August 14—check local listings HERE. A rare solo performance, the one-of-a-kind show was recorded this past November at Carpenter’s favorite venue, Virginia’s legendary Wolf Trap, and features songs from across her acclaimed career including several from her latest record, The Dirt And The Stars.

In addition to the PBS broadcast, a special live album version, One Night Lonely, is available today (stream/purchase HERE), while a full concert DVD featuring bonus interview footage from PBS can now be pre-ordered HERE.

Of the performance, Carpenter reflects, “Strange yet magical, those are my words to describe the feeling of being alone on this hometown stage at Wolf Trap. I was struck by the stillness of the empty seats and the lonely echo of all this space. While I missed seeing the audience and feeling that connection, I was so grateful for the opportunity to play a show during the pandemic shut down.”

“One Night Lonely” follows the release of Carpenter’s widely hailed new album, The Dirt And The Stars, which is out now via Lambent Light Records (stream/purchase here). Produced by Ethan Johns (Ray LaMontagne, Paul McCartney, Kings of Leon) the album was recorded entirely live at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in southwest England and was released to widespread critical praise.

Over the course of her acclaimed career, Carpenter has sold over 14 million records. With hits like “Passionate Kisses” and “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her,” she has won five Grammy Awards (with 15 nominations), two CMA awards, two Academy of Country Music awards and is one of only fifteen female members of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
