Article Contributed by Rex Foundation | Published on Thursday, March 5, 2009

The excellent tickets for each show of The Dead Tour designated to support the Furthur Foundation, Rex Foundation and Unbroken Chain Foundation are just about ready for distribution.  Here is the official ticket announcement presented by each charity.  Thank you for your generous support of the charities as you plan your attendance at the different shows along the Tour!
And now for more about current Rex Foundation initiatives:
Please join us at the following Rex Musical Caravan shows, where $1 for every ticket purchased is contributed to the Rex Foundation:
  • Passion Presents - Sunday, March 8th with Steve Kimock & Friends featuring Melvin Seals at the NorVA Theater in Norfolk, VA, as well as Tuesday, March 31st and Wednesday, April 1st with Steve Kimock Crazy Engine at the Red Fox Tavern in Eureka, CA.
  • Five Eyed Hand supports the Rex Foundation with proceeds from several events of their CD Release Tour.
  • Reflections Band continues their Caravan participation with an event on April 10th at Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ.

We thank all the musicians and their fans for being part of the Rex Musical Caravan to further what the Grateful Dead started 25 years ago and demonstrate the power of the musical community to support grass roots philanthropy.  Let us know if you want to be part of the Caravan.

The latest Food for Thought highlights the work of Rex beneficiary Hearts of Gold. The Food for Thought features provide a more in-depth look at the great work carried .out by Rex beneficiaries, and, along with the full list of Rex Foundation grants, demonstrate the breadth of positive impacts that result from your generous support.

weirWe are now ready to expand our work to raise awareness about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) with The World As It Could Be Human Rights Education Project , and invite you to be a sponsor of this exciting work.  This project builds on the successes of the two initiatives The World As It Could Be - A Declaration of Human Rights, and The World As It Could Be: Where There's A Will There's A Way, by developing public high school curriculum that integrates the creative arts to inspire both deeper learning about the UDHR and the community engagement to manifest its words.

Now is a particularly important time to celebrate how we as a philanthropic community can support the vital work of grassroots non-profits.  As we illustrate with the Rex Community Caravan, $5 or more can add up quickly to make a difference.  If 100,000 people each contribute $5, the Rex Foundation can multiply its grant making capacity very quickly.

Thanks for being part of our ongoing efforts.  Here is to all the good that we can accomplish together.
