Fresh off his win as the 2024 IBMA Songwriter of the Year, acclaimed guitarist and vocalist Rick Faris unveils “You Don’t Know What You’re Missing,” the third advance single from his forthcoming album Life’s Parade, due July 11 on Dark Shadow Recording. A nimble, hard-driving track with a contemplative core, the song urges listeners to disconnect from the daily digital churn and reconnect with life’s deeper, human moments.
“There’s always one more email, one more post, one more chore,” Faris reflects. “But the things that truly matter are the conversations with friends, the strangers we help, the wisdom we gain from folks twice our age, and the time we invest in the next generation. That’s the richer life waiting for us if we’re looking.”
Anchored by Faris’s crystalline tenor and razor-sharp guitar, the single features an elite bluegrass ensemble: Dan Tyminski (mandolin), Ron Block (banjo), Laura Orshaw (fiddle), Mark Schatz (bass), and brother Eddie Faris (harmony vocal). Together they deliver vintage drive with modern sparkle, framing a lyric that celebrates ordinary wonders too often overlooked.
