The West Coast’s Biggest Rock Festival, Aftershock, went even bigger for its 10th anniversary year, held October 6-9 at Discovery Park in Sacramento, CA. In total, 160,000 music fans gathered for the four-day event that featured nonstop music from 90-plus bands, some of the best food and drinks that the Sacramento area has to offer, as well as various sponsor activations and experiences. The popular event brings an economic impact of $30 million to the region annually, says Visit Sacramento.

Guitar badass Samantha Fish and outlaw country maverick Jesse Dayton announces new shows in Biloxi and New Orleans to close out 2022, and four Texas shows are in January 2023. Grammy Award-winning 14-piece jazz ensemble the Mingus Big Band just announced a weekly residency at Manhattan West’s spectacular new variety venue Midnight Theatre. Beginning October 26, the residency performances will be every Wednesday night with doors at 6:00pm and 9:00pm. Christmas with The Smithereens is more than a Christmas- time cover album. This quartet does an impressive job of channeling the spirt of 1960s rock, and solidly interpreting each memorable tune. The band’s originals add a nice twist to the disc and are written with such ‘60s-savviness that without prior knowledge it would almost be difficult to decide which songs were covers and which were originals.
