In 1988, on the eve of a two-decade civil war, Somalia’s authoritarian ruler Siad Barre launched punishing air strikes on the north of the country, known today as Somaliland, in response to agitations for independence. The bombing leveled the entire city. Barre targeted Radio Hargeisa to prevent any kind of central communication system that could organize a resistance.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Jeff Tweedy makes his debut on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers tonight performing “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart” from his forthcoming solo acoustic album Together At Last. In an unprecedented booking Tweedy makes back-to-back appearances on the show, returning Tuesday to perform “I’m Always In Love” also from the aforementioned new release, which is available Friday on Wilco’s dBpm Records. Brother Neil's new album 'Away Avenue Away' is almost here. It's a project that Neil labored over with his childhood friend and music partner Mike Whaling for two years. The journey started and was completed at an old dance hall in Russeldale, Ontario that Mike had converted into a studio. Russeldale is a town without a population, a perfect setting to build a studio free of distractions. There was talk that the building was haunted and psychics had even evaluated the space years before.
