In advance of its upcoming Freaky Deaky music festival in Baytown Texas on Oct 29 & 30th, promoter Disco Donnie Presents (DDP) has donated $150,000 worth of tickets to veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families. The donations were made through non-profit foundations Vet Tix and 1st Tix.

Every year, CMN disrupts the often narrow definitions of Mexican culture by exploring the way artists are reshaping, envisioning and reflecting on their identity in the ever-changing global context.

Thanks to Nederlander Concerts, a few thousand fortunate live music fans were treated to an intimate concert at the beautiful Vina Robles Amphitheatre on September 22nd. St. Vincent and Spoon brought a blistering double bill of guitar-drenched rock to the mountain fringed venue just three days before their sold-out appearance in front of 18,000 fans at the Hollywood Bowl.

Danny Elfman has debuted a brand new Xiu Xiu remix of “Serious Ground,” one of the songs initially featured on Elfman’s acclaimed new double album Big Mess [ANTI- / Epitaph Records]. The track serves as an experimental reinterpretation, pairing Xiu Xiu’s signature industrial noise sensibilities with chopped samples of Elfman's original vocals and instrumentation. Orebolo, an acoustic trio featuring Rich Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar) Peter Anspach (vocals, guitar), Jeff Arevalo (upright bass) announced a series of six winter tour dates. The band, comprised of members of the emergent Connecticut rock group Goose, will make stops in upstate New York and Vermont in December, followed by a trio of shows in Colorado in late January including a show at Denver’s Ogden Theatre with Montana bluegrass outfit Kitchen Dwellers.
