Gospel songs have been an integral part of the bluegrass genre since its very first days, and within a few short years, groups appeared which devoted themselves exclusively to songs of faith delivered in bluegrass settings. In 1973, The Primitive Quartet took its place in the ranks of bluegrass gospel artists, and over the nearly 50 years that have followed, the durable group has made its way to the forefront.

Garrett Dutton, aka G. Love, has a long and interesting musical history. Dutton began playing guitar at the age of eight and wrote songs as early as his first year in high school. Growing up in Philadelphia and having access to so much musical culture he began busking on the streets of Philly. There he was able to hone his craft that has propelled him to his status today as a prolific artist of modern musical culture. His music derives from a blues foundation with classic blues instrumentation.

Gerry Beckley, the illustrious singer, songwriter, performer and co-founder of legendary band America, is set to release his fourth album for Blue Élan Records, Aurora, on June 17, 2022. First single, “Friends are Hard to Find,” is available today on all streaming services.

Like so many parents with young children, Aoife O’Donovan listens to lots of children’s movie soundtracks. Today, however, she pays tribute to one of her new favorites with a special cover version of “What Else Can I Do?”, the Lin-Manuel Miranda-penned original song from Disney’s Encanto.

Today, ascending New York-based jam trio Baked Shrimp announced the initial lineup for LonCon Festival. The two-night camping event, running September 8-10, 2022, is generously hosted by the Yasgur Road campground. This year’s event, the second iteration of the band’s annual festival, will feature headlining appearances from lespecial and Baked Shrimp (two sets). Also making two set appearances are PA-based roots act Cabinet, and Brother Maker, a new project featuring former members of Turkuaz.
