To many, the surprising collaboration between Sting and Shaggy might seem bizarre. They seem to be from two completely different worlds, not just geographically or in genre, but also in fan base. Sting, who came to fame in the 70s, representative of the classic rock scene, is an unlikely partner for the rap and reggae artist, Shaggy, of Jamaican descent, who first became well-known in the 90s.

The Guess Who has a rich catalog of hits spanning from the summer of love, 1969 up until today.  Who could forget the ripping song American Woman? Or the tender ballad These Eyes? Along with founding member Gary Peterson on the drums, the band includes D# on lead vocals & guitar, Will E. on guitar harp and vocals, Leonard Shaw on keys, flute, sax, and vocals, as well as Rudy Sarzo on bass and vocals.  Rudy took some time to chat with Grateful Web about the latest album and tour dates.

The final day of KAABOO Del Mar 2018 began early on Sunday, September 16th under balmy southern California skies.  Early bird concert goers again were greeted by light crowds and some great sets of music. By 1 PM an energetic young crowd had gathered in the courtyard in front of the chill Tourmaline stage. The Los Angeles based Vista Kicks treated the gathering to a spirited set.

On October 12 at 7pm, Hudson Hall presents composer, drummer and Guggenheim Fellow Bobby Previte and his all-star Rhapsody Band performing his newest work, RHAPSODY (Terminals Part II: In Transit), for acoustic sextet — the second in a three-part series exploring the experience of travel. Previte’s Rhapsody Band includes legendary keyboardist John Medeski, Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, harpist Zeena Parkins, Fabian Rucker on alto saxophone, and the vocal and erhu fiddle talents of Jen Shyu.

50 years ago, in 1968, the nation was at a crisis point.  War, assassinations, political strife; millions of voices were yearning to be heard, to be understood.  A year later, 1969, at least on the creative-artistic front, one voice came forward to carry a message, lyrics in song that reached out to those millions. That voice, those lyrics, were JOHN FOGERTY. His natural talent to capture emotion in words, coupled with being the lead singer and guitarist for Creedence Clearwater Revival at the time, gave us three amazing albums in one year!

On Sept. 23, to the delight of Bay Area live music lovers, Sweetwater Music Hall hosted the inaugural Sweetwater in the Sun festival in Marin County, California. Concertgoers nationwide are familiar with the legendary Sweetwater, an intimate venue that has hosted great acts over the decades ranging from Elvis Costello to New Riders of the Purple Sage. While the storied venue has a legacy for its high-profile acts in cozy confines, nothing could have prepared fans for the announcement of Sweetwater in the Sun.

The Silent Comedy have released “Enemies Multiply” the title track from the forthcoming album due out 10/19.
