Craft Recordings and Violent Femmes are commemorating 40 years of the band’s sophomore title, Hallowed Ground, with a wide vinyl reissue. Once an overlooked gem, the album has become a cornerstone of Violent Femmes’ catalog and live performances, and a pioneering work in the post-punk and alt-country genres.

As the Phish summer tour rolls on, the jams continue to heat up. Their first night at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on August 9, 2024, was no exception, as the band honored the legendary venue adjacent to the grounds of the original Woodstock Festival with a raging show. The venue was quite soggy for most of the performance, as the remnants of a former hurricane had passed through Bethel, NY, earlier in the afternoon.

Today, multi-instrumentalist Nate Mercereau, who is currently on André 3000’s New Blue Sun tour, announced his new album Excellent Traveler, out October 11 on Third Man Records. Beloved musician James Casey will posthumously release his solo album, The Kauai Project, on Wednesday, August 28. Its release comes one year after he passed away from colon cancer at age 40.
